I was at the Aurora  game yesterday and was very impressed with their front 4. # 92 was a beast as well as Funk. They should do very well in the Nathcon if they can establish their offense.

D3 Poll is out:

Wheaton moves to #7
NCC #9

IWU 2 votes, carthage 1 vote.

I hate to say it, but Wheaton has to be overrated at #7, especially considering usee's comments.

But as my childhood hero always said: "What? Me worry?"

I figured Wheaton would pass former-#9 Central, wasn't sure about former-#4 St. Johns (who fell all the way to #18 - wow, that seems harsh), but I'm certainly surprised they jumped Wabash (apparently a 'monkey-stomp' on Chicago was less impressive than a 'monkey-stomp' on CUW).  (Did voters somehow get wind that Wheaton 'beat' Wabash in the scrimmage? :D)

IWU doubled their point total - if they can continue that pace the rest of the season, they will be unanimously #1 by the start of the playoffs! ;D

Mr. Ypsi

BTW, with OAC teams at 1 and 4, CCIW teams at 7 and 9, and Wabash at 8, the North region has 5 of the top 9 slots.  (6, if you include 2007 import UWW! :D)

Wheaton and Norris are going to be fine.  He's had a bit of a disadvantage the first few weeks that will likely be resolved this week.  Go Thunder

Although Carthage struggled to hold onto the ball offensively against Lakeland, I'm still impressed with their production and quick strike potential. 517 total yards, 426 yds in the air. When you turn the ball over 5 times in a game you usually loose. Carthage showed some grit fighting through their turnovers to still win a game.

Orsky, do you care to elaborate on those disadvantages that are going to be resolved?

Agreed.  Pretty easy statement to make without anything backing it up.  Current performance does not support your claim.

Not going to go into it.  Just making a comment.  We'll see if things get better.

Tailgater the turnovers were killers as was the short field the D worked with.  Give credit to Lakeland they had something to prove and came out hard against the Red Men who were flat at the start.  D stepped up in the 2nd half.  O'Donnell's kick return was huge.   9 penalties for 161 yds against the Red Men, some were pretty awful calls, some against Lakeland totally missed, but, have to play through that, no excuses.  Take the W, move on an learn from this, don't underestimate any team.  Big week this week against the Campbell Fighting Camels.  D1 non-athletic scholarship program, no football since 1959,  0-4 this year, can't let up.

Orsky c'mon man.. you don't make an observation or criticize something without something solid to back it up.
Tailgater makes some good points.  The mark of a good team is how they are able to overcome adversity and "pull out" those games when they are not at their best.
Wheaton just hammered a pretty decent Concordia (WI) team that has been to the playoffs in the last few years.  I don't think the Thunder have much to worry about.
IMO, there is not one team that stands above everybody else in the CCIW, like there has been in the past.  Obviously, Wheaton and NC are looking pretty tough, but it's one of those years where anybody can beat anybody- any Saturday.

Newsflash:  Wheaton will be visiting here prior to their game this week.  This will be a prime way to pump the guys up for their clash with Hope.

Hey I went there on my fourth grade field trip.  We were an uncontrollable hyper bunch after that day.   ;)  Guess seeing them ground wheat into flour by windmill will be a way of firing them up too???
