Thunder Struck

My favorite one is still UC santa Barbara Banana Slugs.

My alma mater is UCSB, and we were the Gauchos (which is either an Argentinian cowboy or a peanut butter cookie).

You're thinking of the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs.  Great name.
You've been Thunder Struck!

Wash'd,

hiker-i posted some info on top of page 99 from another board about 2-loss teams. i don't think there is much of a chance of wheaton winning out and making it unless some big names fall off the board. your scenario puts us in the discussion but currently there are way too many 1 loss teams out there that aren't likely to lose. but, you never know.

My bad thunderstruck, I knew it was one of those Santa something teams, sort of  like the UW- Stout/Platteville/Lacrosse/Kenosha/Racine/GreenBay,etc. teams.

Based on latest North Region rankings... it shows how brutal the Wheaton loss to IWU was.  Wheaton would arguably we where Augie is in the ranking.  Just think the CCIW could have had 3 teams in the top 6 in the region.  All speculation at this point.

I hope Wheaton wins out, but I agree that it won't help the slim chances for playoffs.  You want to go to the playoffs, you need to take care of your own business.  That means beating 1-5 opponents.

Card alum,

I think he was there when i was freshman...I don't think the younger guys would know him.  Interesting to see that he is the Offensive Coordinator, after serving as North Park's D Coordinator.

I agree that the IWU loss really puts Wheaton in a bind...I think that if NCC wins out and Wheaton beats Wuggie then only NCC will go to the play-offs from the CCIW and no two loss teams in conference will go unless they are AQ.

I think this will be one of the best games all year and I wish I could see it.  I will be listening on the radio.  good luck to everyone in the CCIW on staying safe, avoiding injuries and the like...

pat has posted d3's 1st version of playoff predictions. has ncc as the 1 seed in. also has a couple 2 loss teams getting in.

go to front page at the top to see it.

I don't believe I have any two-loss Pool C teams. You're assuming games that haven't been played yet -- this is a snapshot of the picture at this moment.

pat, i see that now. i was looking at wartburg but if they are in it will be as AQ and central is the casualty. i don't understand whitworth w 2 losses in the linfield conf though.

Pat Coleman

That's a Pool B team, so it's not taking a spot from Wheaton.

Whitworth has just one loss in-region, of course, which is paramount.

Joe these are sad times for true Redmen.  I have seen sig picture books with the white helmets with the spear on them from the 60s.  As far as big red in the 80s talk to Coach Rucks  class of 83 or Billy who was there in the late 80s.    I just think they gave up.  What happened to the statement they re-released earlier this year..  Pussies..   MY apologies to cat lovers.

"Anybody know any other examples of color mascots"  Mr. Ypsi  here are a couple I know of

Cornell University   Big Red      Ithaca, NY
Harvard U.             Crimson      Cambridge, MA
Syracuse               Orange        Syracuse, NY    (changed from orangemen)
Kent                      Golden Flashes  Kent, OH
Tulane                   Green Wave New Orleans, LA

Should be a good game down at Lindsay Field this weekend.  You have up and coming Elmhurst with a strong defense against a top running back in Wallick with an average team.  EC has always had trouble down in Decatur and Neibuhr has never lost to Elmhurst.
