In the 80's and 90's Elmhurst could not get much going consistently against Augie.  I would say in the last 4-5 years Elmhurst has been right there with AC and just has fell short a couple of times.  I do think tomorrow's game is going to be close.

Jaybird,

just to clarify, there was a string of seasons (mostly under Tom Beck) where Elmhurst was every bit as good or better than Augie. In 1978-80 they had a better record than Augie each of those years (Including 2 conference championships). In 1981-84 they were second to Augie 3x and played them very close every year. In 1986 Elmhurst tied Augie, giving them their only conference blemish in 7 years which included their 4 national championships and 1 loss in the title game.

Sounds like IWU's top RB Christian Winston (80 carries, 320 yards) may not play today due to injury...

Something to keep an eye on.  Sophomore Bo Lanter (who has barely played this year due to injury) will need to have a good game if Winston is indeed out.

Who is the color analyst for Wheaton's TV station?  He keeps calling Wheaton mistakes as 'bonehead', 'stupid' and has stated that Wheaton should 'walk all over' North Park.

Is he a student?  I assume that he is, but just curious....

Yikes!  Carthage takes full advantage of some early IWU mistakes.  Carthage scores three plays after recovering a blocked punt at the IWU 15, then on the next possession returns an INT for a TD.

With 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, it is Wheaton over NPU by a score of 49-7.  Most starters are now done for the day...

Orsky, I guess you had some pretty good information about Sean Norris.  I guess he is going to be alright.  He had a pretty good day.

17-18 for 239 yards, 3 TD's, 0 INT's, one rushing TD.

Yes it is North Park, but that is pretty impressive.  Whatever issues he had the first 2 games, he has been a completely different player over the last 2 games.

They are almost always students, so lower your expectations.  It is a good experience for them, but don't expect unbiased, professional analysis and commentary.   :-\   They do the best they can, but they are quite a way from being polished.

btw:  Looking at the respective teams, why shouldn't Wheaton walk all over NPU?  Wheaton has been at the top of the CCIW for over the past decade and has a ton of returning starters, not to mention they are ranked #6 in the country (a bit high in my opinion).  North Park has lost 54 straight CCIW games.

I know announcers shouldn't make statements like that, but it wasn't too outlandish.

BTW: That translates to a pass efficiency rating of 260.5 for the game.

IWU starts to show some life after an early storm from Carthage.  IWU scored following a long INT return of their own, but Carthage answered back on the ensuing drive, only to have the PAT blocked.  A big return on the kickoff put IWU in good position and they took advantage of it with another TD.

A final from Naperville:

NCC 31
Millikin 13

I was unable to make it because I had some film to break down myself, but sources tell me that it was a sloppily played game with a lot of penalties, including several unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on both teams.  The Cardinal offensive line got a bit dinged up as well as Fanthorpe, although he was seen running around and cutting on the sidelines later on in the game, so I think that he'll be alright.

Carthage comes up with a big sack on 4th down at their own 28.
The Redmen use a 8-play drive to get a field goal attempt at the IWU 13.
Titans block the kick, recovered in the end zone by IWU for a touchback.

Thanks fightintitain.  I just found the link for the realtime stat updates, so I'm following along now too.  I tried listening to TitainQ's broadcast, but I think my computer is far too old and terrible for it to work.
