In college at Nebraska Wesleyan, I had a couple of friends from NE high schools with unusual names:

Minden Whippets----This one always struck me as one of the strangest. For those of you who don't know, a whippet is another name for a greyhound dog. My buddy said they always felt a certain stigma that could be associated with the word "whippet" and their opponents seldom passed on the opportunity to point out that fact.

I too am a Glendbard West Grad (The Bicentennial Class of 1976). We referred to the school as "The Dump on the Hump". Did you happen to see the recent photos of the flooding after the downpour of Rain last month? Lake Ellyn completely covered the football field. A few years back the Football Gazette rated Glenbard West as the second most beautiful place in the Country to watch a football game. I think you and I can agree on that.

It's actually Elmhurst 35, NPU 14 at the half, and the game is in Elmhurst, not Chicago. NPU is moving the ball well, but the 'jays have 283 yards on offense already. Elmhurst is probably going to break every school offensive record by the time the game is over. The Vikings aren't even slowing Elmhurst down.

Just checked WJBC and they are broadcasting Illinois State right now, with a 5:45 start time for IWU.  But is that a delayed broadcast, or does scoreboard have the wrong start time?
