Question for the "breakfast of champions" cereal:

Is the set of metal bleachers on the home side of the field to right of the main stands there for the away fans? It seemed that 3/4 of the people seated there were the fans of the school who has the Little Brass Bell. You know, North Central...the Brass Bell caretakers...North Central College...Brass Bell....

Anyway, I was just wondering if that was the norm for those bleachers or if the 2008 Battle for the Little Brass Bell champ's fans took over before the late arriving cereal school's fans showed up.

Comet, I'm glad you had the chance to go down the Bloomington to see the Jays play.  The trip down isn't bad, and there is plenty of good restaurants to choose from.  I also like the flame that burns in the stadium.  It's my second favorite non-Chicago area CCIW location to visit, but Carthage is almost tied for number 2, because of the Brat Stop.  Augustana is my favorite, if only because of the Rock Island Armory Museum.

The metal bleachers on the home side are not intended for visiting fans per se.  Those stands are typically used for overflow (either on visitors side or home side).

Or for recluse, introverted, paranoid fans who like to sit by themselves so they can carry out a conversation with themselves about the game.

Or those who refer to themselves in the 3rd person.  :P

The handicapped seating is also in that section.  My Mom and Dad sit there when they go to games because they have a nice place for wheelchairs to fit.

1 punt return for 0 yards:
The one punt he did field was a beauty (from NCC perspective).  A towering 41 yard punt into the wind with great hang time.  Ittersagen fair caught that punt at Wheaton's 16 yard line with 2 NCC coverage men right on him.  To attempt to field that punt without a fair catch would have been stupid.  The first NCC punt was a 30 yard shank out of bounds in an attempt to kick away from Ittersagen.  The 3rd punt was again punted away from Ittersagen and travelled only 29 yards before going out of bounds.  The NCC punter kicked the ball out of bounds 2 of 3 times and your coach is quoted in an interview before the game stating they will keep the ball away from Ittersagen because he is capable of returning any kick.  Yet... he is obsolete?

Mugsy,

I agree with your post but have 1 correction. NCC punted 4 times. Fair catches don't count as returns as far as I am aware. The 1 return was after Wheaton had made the score 37-21 and they forced a punt. NCC punted to the Wheaton 39 yd line (near wheaton sideline) and Mucha, who is the personal protector on the NCC punt team, made the tackle as soon as Ittersagen caught it. It was a great play by Mucha.

Thanks for the correction.  I made a quick review of the play-by-play in the boxscore and missed that return.  At that point in the game I was already at home and did not see the return.

I believe my argument is still valid.  NCC was kicking away from Ittersagen and when they didn't, their coverage was very good.

... fair catch, tackle for no gain, and a downed punt... I wouldn't excatly call that kicking away from him. More than half the punts went to him and he did nothing.... so get your facts right. The ball was kicked out of bounds once, not 2 or 3.

As for knowing where he was on the field. Sure, i'm sure the QB knows where there #1 corner is against any team, not just Wheaton. Bottom Line as a QB, you still make your checks and you throw to the open WR. Dispite knowing where #12 was NC's #1 WR still had 5 catches, most in #12 zone.... believe it or not, its a fact (probably why he had so many tackles). Not to mention Fanthorpes 300yrd 2TD game.... and 0 pics. Oh... and I'm sure Fanthorpe knew where the other corner was too.  ;D

For an athlete to be talked about playing in the likes of P. Manning, LT, and Urlacher I would assume he would make a huge impact in every game he plays in (i.e. studebaker the past few years). He had no real impact on the game saturday night, i still say #12 was obsolete. To say they knew where he was the whole game.... yeah, they know where everyone was that was on the field, and scored 44 pts.
To say they didn't punt to him... well that is just WRONG because they did 3 of 4 times and covered it well... with no fear.

Next time I talk about Wheaton, I'll check with you Mugsy...

Blitz Creed,

Go sit in the corner and be quiet. You're just wrong. Rah Rah stuff until facts or stats to back it up isn't desired here. You're making all NCC fans look bad.

The way you're going, you'll set a record for negative karma.

Don't beat a dead horse.

fyi... I'll heed my own advice here and leave this one alone.  Nothing is going to change "Blitzed" Cardinal's view and you all are sick of this thread already.
