If (when) North Central comes out with a win saturday, it will be the first time since 1978 the cards beat both wheaton and auggie the same year and the first in the JT era. I also believe it will be the first time NC has been 9-0.

Like past years I am thinking NC defense will shut down aggies offense. Even in '05 wienke and company held aggie to two tds. I'm thinking cards win by 17+, shutting the vikings out the first half.

Comet 14-  Millikin's strength is their defense and in particular their LB's.  Sam Jordan is a very good LB  and they have some good receivers in Matt Kormelink.  Since Wallick, MU has not had a big name running back to speak of.
Millikin traditionally is a tough opponent and historically has had their success against Elmhurst.

While I think Elmhurst is a better team there is something that I am keeping in the back of my mind this weekend.  Couple of years ago at Elmhurst, the Jays had a chance at reaching the 7 win mark and Millikin all but locked up.  EC was whistled for late hit, combined with a poor judgment by a CB, and poof in just 30 something seconds Millikin went 80-90 yds and shocked EC- stealing the win from the jaws of defeat.  Hopefully that scenario doesn't happen again.

Seriously... the marquee with huge scrolling text is quite annoying as you are trying to ready a post.  Particularly when several posts in a row have it.  Personally I don't mind a marquee, as posters like CardinalAlum have had one for over a year.  But when it overpowers the actual content of a post... >:(

Right up there with typing in all caps, all the time.

Agreed. When someone across the room can read it, it has reached the obnoxious point.

I think they're great   :D :P

So do I - though I am technology challenged and do not wish to know how to do it.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Just saw the weather forecast....will this be a huge
problem for the Cards passing offense?  Which
games will it be a huge factor in --- several CCIW
teams like to throw the ball?

Weather can always be a factor in November games in Illinois and Wisconsin.  Good teams can play in any weather.  I don't think the Cards will notice the weather at all (he says safely and snuggly in front of his TV set).

NOT much love for the CARDs in the Daily Dose...
SURPRISINGLY CLOSE GAME:
Keith's take: Augustana at No. 2 North Central. I have a bad feeling about this one for North Central, and perhaps not for any logical reason. The 6-2 Vikings have been hot and the Cardinals have everything to lose. With a conference title, playoff spot and perhaps a No. 1 seed in North Central's grasp, the pressure could become overwhelming, the play tight and the game way too close for comfort.

UPSET PICK:
Pat's take: No. 2 North Central. I'm going about as far up the poll as one reasonably can here, yes. Augustana looks like it's getting the hang of the offense, going 28-for-41 through the air in their past two games (not counting a 13-for-15 in the North Park game).

Ouch....CARDS better be sharper than the press they are getting...and beat the turn over game with
the weather too -- or it sounds like many expect Augustana to pull a 2005??!!??
D3 Rocks!

Comet 14

Wow, The Cards better hope that the 2 D3 Guru's are off base on this one.

NCC.2008

Ryan Tipps and Keith McMillan both predicted NCC to lose against Carthage in week 6 as well. IMO, the predictions made my Kieth and Pat do nothing more than make the players want to win even more. We all know that they players and coaches are on here reading the posts and looking at the predictions, and they will be well aware that the D3football "Guru's" (as they like to be called) predicted them to lose. It's just adding fuel to the fire, and I like it.

79jaybird

99.9% of this board predicted Wheaton over Elmhurst (me included) and Elmhurst pounded them, so until the guys are duking it out on the field, they are just predictions or strong feelings.

Any IWU fans: what happend to Mike Wagner? he was the Dcoordinator forever and Now Mike Murray is in that role. Murray was the Dcoordinator in the 90's I remember and then left. Last year he ran the offense. What has become of Wags?

Comet 14

For the record NCC.2008 I don't know that they liked to be called Guru's. Thats just something I like to call them. I call them that out of respect for there knowledge of D3 football.( all sports for that matter).

Wags was promoted within IWU's athletic department last spring.  I'm not sure what his official title is, but he is an assistant A.D. of sorts.  In fact - and this is just completely my opinion - I think there is a very good chance Mike Wagner will be IWU's next A.D., when Dennie Bridges retires (and that may still be a few years away).

Wags was offered the A.D. job at a very good D3 school last spring...Illinois Wesleyan made sure they kept him, and  I commend the school for that.  Wags is a class act.  The bad news is that his new responsibilities have taken him away from coaching football.

Mike Murray, a former head coach at Dubuque and Benedictine, moved from offensive coordinator to defensive coordinator this year.  Coach Murray is a good dude too.

I'm nnnnnervous. I know we've had Auggie's number the last couple of years and the Cards are a great team. But, this weather reminds me of '05. It won't affect us...It won't affect us...It won't affect us..............

I like both Wags and Coach Murray a lot. class guys and good coaches. I thought Murray did a great job with the offense last year. He has had some great defenses over the years as well.
