Newsflash: Wabash College gains new corporate sponsor.  Applications expected to rise due to nationwide exposure.

That's funny.  Having no idea who Hal Wing was, I looked him up.  Ran across a CNN Money article that talked about his life story as an officer in the army and returning from Germany in the 1980's to start little giant ladders.  The article said, "It was the beginning of Wing Enterprises, purveyor of the Little Giant Ladder, the "Swiss Army Knife" of ladders."

Gotta love that... the "Swiss Army Knife" of ladders. :o

Redman04, Michigan or OSU?

You have 1st pick for this game..... I get the Next one.

In today's paper the line is 20.5

Take who you want!

Just for you, Son!

I guess I'll take Michigan despite the Wolverines being without their starting QB and RB.  Not to mention, it's in Columbus.  Anyway, being a rivalry game, maybe they can keep it within 20.

We're all tied up.... Next one is for Bama/ Florida
I'll wait on the pick until the friday before so we know the spread!

Sounds good.  In the meantime, I'll go ahead and put in a request for TAILGATER IS MY DADDY! (in all caps - that was for you Mugsy). :-[

FYI- there are the IHSA HS State Playoff games this weekend.  Many of the siblings of the CCIW players will be in action this weekend.  And, possibly future CCIWsters.

Not just the playoffs...State Title games are this weekend!

8A Maine South vs. Hinsdale Central
7A Geneva vs. East St. Louis

I like to think that the state final in 7A was played this past Saturday in Glen Ellyn.  ESL will roll over Geneva like a steamroller.
Glenbard West hung with them the whole game even though they lost their #1 running back in 2nd quartter.
I would look for GW's Cook or Venson, #1 and 2 running backs to do well on next level.  Esp. in DIII.
ESL's front line averages 6 4 and over 280 and they run a spread offense.  They also have a great wide receiver/cornerback who is going to Illinois next year.  He scored 2 touchdowns w/over 100 yards receiving and is actually better on defense.
Maybe GW would have done better in 8A as they already beat Hinsdale Central in regular season. :)

New Tradition- you the same and hope you eat lots of turkey!

You don't have to worry about me in that dept., JB.   ;D

I happened to go to the Glenbard West/East St. Louis game last week (being a former Hilltopper) I'd have to place my bet on East St. Louis as the IL Class 7A champs as well. Holy moly Their offense and defensive lines are ginormous. The offensive line average over 300 lbs. Size wise they would be the envy of most College programs. Only one starter on the line was under 300 lbs. One kid was 6'7" 300 lbs another 6'3" 335 lbs. They were a little slow afoot, but were productive at opening holes in the line. It didn't take much of a hole for the ESL running back. Greased lightening and legs like a race horse. Geneva will have their hands full....literally.

Don't let my wife hear about this :o ;) I'd be more than happy to have Redman04 in the family fold, but financially you're on your own ;D

I agree  tailgater, ESL should win no problem.

GW #11 (I think)defensive back also kept Wheaton North's  Trumpy (Northwestern bound) in check in the first round, he's a little small but great instincts, strength, and technique perfect for CCIW I would think.

A lot of people kept Trumpy in check this year. He was much more productive last year as a junior. He was not nearly as impressive this year.

Trumpy was hampered by nagging injuries for a good majority of the season.  He started off very hot the first 3 games, as did Wheaton North.  Then he had a number of injuries to deal with... a hamstring if I'm not mistaken.  Not too surprising... Wheaton North's fortunes turned for the worst at that point.

Tomorrow's game v Wabash will be a battle. It appears the strength of the Wabash team is their defensive front 7. They have the POY from their conference in Darrel Kennon (DT) and 3 of their front 4 are 1st team all conference players. They have been very disruptive as a DLine. Jared Lange (DE) and Kennon have combined for 13.5 sacks and 28 TFL this season.

Offensively they have OPOY Matt Hudson at QB who is 6'6" 228 lbs and has completed 65% of his passes with 27 TD's on only 11 INT for a 166 passer rating. Those are some impressive numbers. The OLine has allowed him to to get these numbers and they have 3 first team all conference players at center and both tackles. Both the right guard and right tackle go 6'6" 300. WR Kody Lemond is their leading receiver with 68 catches 13 td's and 105 yds per game average. They also have a 1st team all conf TE in Scott Lyska 6'6" 240 lbs. That's 4 players on their offense at 6'6"!!

the matchups that will be fun to keep an eye on are:

#12 Pete Ittersagen CB 5' 10" VS. #85 WR Kody Lemond 5' 11" 166lbs
#63 OL Jesse Scott 6'3" 300 lbs VS #11 Darrell Kennon 6' 3" 235 lbs
#91 Ben Kuenzle 6' 3" 250 lbs VS #74 Jeremy Morris 6'6" 298 lbs

I think Wheaton absolutely needs a big game out of Nick Theobald 6'4" 280 lbs DT vs Wabash OG Skip Tokar 6'6" 320 lbs.

Wabash is ranked in the top 10 in the country on offense and defense. Their home crowd has got to be ranked in the top 5 in the country too so Wheaton will battling the 12th man as well.

If the Thunder can keep from turning the ball over they will have a good chance to keep the game close.

Ralph Turner

Arizona State beat UCLA 34-9 on the strength of 4 defensive TD's.  That ties an NCAA all-division record including 4 by the 1989 Millikin team.

3 INT's and  fumble return for a TD

I hadn't planned on getting up at 6 AM, but when playoff time comes, it is just hard to stay in bed.

It looks like the weather will be nice in Naperville for a late November game.  Right around 40 and sunny.

It is going to be a shootout today considering the strength of both offenses and NC's ability to defend the pass the last 4 weeks.
Prediction
NC 49  Franklin 45
Wheaton 21  Wabash 20.

Good Luck to both CCIW teams!!

I like at least a touchdown more in both games because of the matchup strengths.  NC's pass defense is a strength and Wheaton's run defense has held up except against a very good back like Sulo.

NC 32 Franklin 14

Wheaton 38 Walbash 20

It would be great for two more CCIW wins.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I think that NCC will win easily today.  I don't think they have seen anything like North Central's defense.  That has been the key to their winning this year IMO.  The Cardinals offensive strength is a given.  The way they have been able to stop people has been most impressive to me over the course of the year.  And that linebacker......starts with a W I think........he's kind good too.   ;D

I have a large concern with regards to the Wheaton game.  Which Wheaton team will show up.  If it is the second half against Augie team, the Thunder should have a great shot.  If it is the "Turnover machine" it will be a long afternoon.

I'm also looking for some descriptions of the guys in the striped pants (I think it is called the Phoenix club).  They are oft talked about, but I have never seen them, and I'm interested in a CCIW take on them and their actions.

Mugsy

Great... Norris first pass of the game was intercepted and returned to the Wheaton 32.  Not the way to start the game.  Wheaton can't have the "bad" Norris show up today.

Pass interference against Wheaton.  Wabash inside the 20 already.
