congrats to Wheaton ...it will be great to see you in Alliance again.  Your fans have always been great, your team well coached and prepared, and your head coach is one of the finer individuals I have had the pleasure to interview...
good luck Saturday...

Back at you raiderpa.  But I must say that in 2002 somebody stole one of our enormous team flags.  That flag was expensive and has yet to be found.  As you can see, I'm still bitter about it.  And for some reason, I don't think that "somebody" was a Wheaton fan.

Anyway, maybe that flag will reappear this year and we'll have two rivalry trophies to play for.  ;D

Does Wheaton have a chance against Mount Union this week?

I say YES!!  Here's why ...

The toughest game Mount Union played this regular season (or the closest margin of victory, I should say) was against Otterbein ... 49-20 ... a 29 point margin.  Well, Franklin's winning margin over Otterbein was 17 as was Wheaton's margin of victory over Franklin ... simple addition results in a 34-point difference between Wheaton and Otterbein which bests Mount Union's difference of 29!!  There it is ... advantage Wheaton by 5 (how much -Karma will this give me?). :P

I'll give Mount Union +3 for home field so, in my book (and I'm sure ONLY in my book) Wheaton is a 2-point favorite!! ;D

There's a chance ...

GrizzPride:

Congratulations to you on a great season.  The offensive line was certainly a big part of what Rupp was able to accomplish.

GrizPride

Thanks Gordomann!  It was a lot of fun protecting Chad Rupp for 3 years!

If any newcomers want more information on Mt Union you can go to Ric Brienza's site www.mtunionfootball.com  It's one of the best d3 sites out there and you can get all the info you need about The Purple Raiders.

Wow... love the scrolling signature!  (and it isn't too big to be annoying  ;))

I disagree  :P

lol... I knew you'd like that one.

It's about time that Ittersagen started playing well.  I feel that he had an abysmal regular season, except for the Bethel game.

I would like to nominate this post for "Idiotic post of the year"   ::)

Great job Thunder!!

I got it #1!!

I believe you meant to say most realistic poster of the year.  Lets face the facts.  Anyone who attended more than 5 Wheaton Regular Season games would admit that Ittersagen by no means had a great year.  He was regularly burned on routes (although some of those balls were overthrown and not capitalized on), he was outplayed by larger receivers (most notably the Bethel game on the Touchdown in the East end zone), and he has not shown anywhere near the ability that he has in the past.  For a "playmaker" he is often non-existent on the field.  And I will admit that part of the reason is that a QB throws away from him, but he has also gotten burned too many times for the high caliber player that he is supposed to be.
The Postseason seems to be a different story and he deserves credit for that.  We will see how he and the rest of the Wheaton team fares against MU.
Im predicting a blowout.

I also would like to congratulate the Thunder. North Region Champions has a nice ring to it! As a Mount fan, I have always respected the Wheaton program. A top notch program with a class coach, players and fans. I'm looking forward to a great game on Saturday. Safe travels to all.

Mugsy, the Wheaton women met their "Mount Union" in soccer in the national championship on Saturday - they were absolutely pounded by Messiah 5-0.  But a national runner-up position is nice way to end a season, and I guess we were the meat grinder for the past four seasons - what goes around, comes around, I guess...unless you are from Alliance.

Jim,

Yeah, I searched around for the final score on Saturday night.  Still a great year as they were a runner up and had to overcome a number of key injuries.

Mugsy,

Shame on you for discussing women's soccer on the football board, especially in the biggest week in Wheaton football history!

Didn't you know there is a board for these discussion?  ;)  ;D

Wheaton College ended my career yesterday, unfortunately, but I wanted to give the Thunder the credit they deserved!!  They were a class act and had a great game plan.  I hope the Thunder can give Mount all they can handle and more next week!

GrizPride,

Congrats to you on an outstanding season.  I was incredibly impressed with every aspect of the Franklin program on Saturday.  Great atmosphere, outstanding team, class all around...

Hey!  I was out of town this weekend (in the magical land of IOWA...a place where the internet has not made an appearance yet  ;)) so I have not had the chance to log in and say CONGRATS to the Thunder!  Go get 'em this weekend!
I am a NATIONAL Champion, and I refuse to lose!
