Sorry redman04 (or whoever you are soon to be ) - you didn't deserve that sarcastic blast, but I've gotten SO tired of these 'whines' (I don't know how MUC or WIAC fans survive ).  And if people looked at 'excessive dominance' objectively (rather than just for the 'big' sports), Kenyon swimming makes Mount Union football look mediocre.

To understand the act of the Wisconsin State Legislature that merged the old Wisconsin State University schools with UW-Madison, creating the UW system, is to know that a change in the division status of the WSUC/WIAC schools is as close to an impossibility was it gets...sorry to say it's not going to happen....  !!

SOT asked a reasonable question, which seems to be asked every year at this time. Mount Union is in the Finals again. They won their semifinal game by 24 points, and they seem to be at least 24 points better than any other team in D3 with maybe the exception of UWW.

My opinion is that Mount Union does belong in D3. They are schools that dominate D3 in many sports. Kenyon was cited as one that dominates more so than MUC, but other schools are always in the top 10 annually (North Central in Cross Country as an example although they don't dominate they way MUC does).

We give UWW a pass, to some extent, because the WIAC is competitive and lost to Stephens Point this season. But UWW has had little trouble with UMHB who may be the best team on the next tier.

However, Mount Union supporters incite some of the discussion. In the week of the Wheaton game, MUC supporters came to the CCIW board and claimed that although Wheaton has a couple good players on defense, MUC has that caliber of players two deep. Wheaton has three premier defensive players, MUC has 22? Wheaton recruits nationally and does a fantastic job. But apparently, their recruiting pales to that of MUC. I don't see the gap closing anytime soon.

I might have to agree with that MUC poster....

Hence them losing only 5 times over the past 10+ years. Quoting a poster on the OAC board..."They don't rebuild each year, they reload." they don't have a down season b/c of their blue chip recruiting (among other things). One player graduates and another with equal talent takes his spot.

It is a legitimate question, but when you follow it with "With MUC dominating year after year you would have the think those ideas have been floating around" it smacks of the old "can't beat them, move them up a Division" argument. I bet people once clamored to get Augustana out of D3, and now look at them.
