Haven't been able to post do to being sick.  Extreme muscle weakness, shaking, tremors and flu like symptoms for over five months.  Only thing the doctor came up with so far is no measurable vitamin D in my system.  Muscle strength is getting better with vitamin D pills.  Other symptoms are still there.  So that is my excuse for not being able to post before.  Thanks Mugsy for Wheaton's representation.

Thanks Go Thunder? It was hard to describe the game to some relatives but this will at least show the excitement i tried to describe.

I was isolating on our D line most of the night. #97 Tim Janacek worked his tail off all night long trying to break free of a lot of hooking and holding on him. I can't believe none of it was called.

Holding?  What holding?   ;)    Funny you mention that  because we thought the same thing about holding for NCC! Seemed like a lot of jersey pulling, grabbing and hooking was going on on both sides.  We also thought some pass interference was left uncalled.  But, it seems like the refs let them play which is what I would rather see.  Good luck to you guys the rest of the season.

Well Mugsy and Wheaton Posters...it is Monday night on the week before the biggest game so far of the year in the CCIW.    What can we expect from the Thunder this week, and how do they plan on stopping a very potent NCC offense.   Forecast looks like there may be some rain and snow on Saturday...could slow down the Cardinals a bit.

I will put the 1st prediction out there.

North Central 31

I'm still trying to pull together all my thoughts on the game.  I'll post my prediction tomorrow - too busy with a bathroom remodel tonight to post anything meaningful.

Go Thunder- Hope you are feeling better and get back to full strength shortly.
On a side note, I had to pull 3 ticks off of my labrador yesterday so now I'm worried about ticks and other disease carriers in our back yard.  :-[

I don't think one can predict the WC/NC game.  There is too much talent on both sides to really favor one side or the other.

I'm going to go against the grain and say Wheaton 20-Naperville School 14.  Both offenses look to be on top of their game.  I just feel that defense will be the key of the day, especially if the weather predictions are right.  In any case, it should be a rockin' game.  The litmus test for both teams on the CCIW slate so far.

Hey Mugsy, can you post some pictures of your bathroom remodel when it's completed? You've put a lot of time and effort into it. I've done several bathroom remodels in my line of work and I'm curious what your completed project looks like. I'm picturing orange and blue checkerboard tile for the shower surround, a large "W" tiled into the center of the floor that resembles a football field and built in storage lockers on one wall with name plates for each family member over their door. For your toilet I see a red toilet seat with NCC on one side of the horseshoe and Cardinals on the other. Close?  ;) :D ;D

CCIW players of the week posted:

QuoteNAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Elmhurst's Scottie Williams, Illinois Wesleyan's Nick Nikolich and North Central's Nick Kukuc were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.

Williams, a freshman running back from Woodridge, Ill., and Downers Grove South High School, totaled 200 yards and three touchdowns in Elmhurst's 47-10 victory over North Park on Saturday. He finished with 14 carries for 155 yards (11.1 yard average) and two rushing touchdowns, and also caught three passes for 45 yards and a 26-yard touchdown catch. Williams helped the Bluejays roll up 568 yards of total offense (the third highest single-game total in Elmhurst history) and 368 rushing yards (the fourth highest single-game total). He is a marketing major.

Nikolich, a senior linebacker from Libertyville, Ill., and Libertyville High School, led Illinois Wesleyan to a 7-0 win over Augustana on Saturday with eight total tackles including a 15-yard quarterback sack in the second quarter. He was part of a defense that held Augustana to only 29 yards and two first downs in the first half. For the game, the Vikings were held to 135 yards of total offense, 105 on the ground and 30 through the air. Nikolich is a finance major.

Kukuc, a freshman running back from Naperville, Ill., and Naperville Central High School, returned five kickoffs for 178 yards, including a 46-yard return, and recovered a block punt for a touchdown in North Central's 63-48 victory over Carthage on Saturday. He is an athletic training major.

LOL... nice interior design concepts.  Unfortunately I don't think it would fly with my wife for the primary bathroom.   :-[

While it is taking alot of calendar time, the actual hours spent hasn't been too extreme.  Between crazy work hours and trying to avoid waking the kids (since the bathroom is adjacent to bedrooms), I'm only putting in 8-10 hours a week on the bathroom.  I've completed the demolition of old bathroom down to studs/joists, electrical work to replace 50+ year old wiring/new circuit for jacquzzi tub, replace old cast iron plumbing, replacing insulation, and I'm 90% done with installing drywall.

Once done with the drywall I should be able to spend more time as the remaining work shouldn't be as noisy (tape, mud, sand, installing tile/beadboard, trim, painting, etc...).

Instead of a tux this past June I wanted to wear my old Elmhurst jersey, but my wife wouldn't let me.  We did take multiple shots of the bridle party in front of Langhorst's Press Box, Victory Bell, and scoreboard.

Carthage Fan,
There was a lot of holding coming from the Carthage side of the ball.  The holding penalties were definitely called on North Central.  Josh Delancy was called for at least 5 holding penalties.  Some of the "hooking" that you might be describing would be from our tackles pass blocking.  When a defensive end throws a rip move during a speed rush, the way to defend it is to put one hand in the middle of the chest and the other on the hip.  Then put pressure and that generally torques the D-end over.  Unfortunately it can look like holding when, in fact, there is no holding on the play.  Another point to make was that last year the officials said they were going to reduce the holding calls.  The only time they would throw it is if a defender was visibly trying to disengage from a blocker and the jersey was being pulled, or there is an arm hooked around.  That might shed some light as to why there were few holding calls on both sides.  Thank you for the wishes of luck.  I hope you guys win out!

In other news...

Running backs at NCC will need to step up as Dom Sulo has torn his ACL.  Luckily NCC has 3 backs that can get the job done.  Let's go Cards, keep up the intensity.
Looks like four in a row!
