You could have stopped right after your first word...I edited it for you.  ;D

Ah... you should know by now.  I'm a rambling man.   :-\  <fade to Zepplin's "Ramble On">
Wheaton Football: CCIW Champs: 1950, 1953-1959, 1995, 2000, 2002-2004, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2019

Mugsy, I appreciate you not revealing the status of Rocky.  The running game on Saturday for the Thunder is not going to be the reason they win the game so whether Rocky he plays or not I don't think it will affect the outcome.  Wheaton hasn't ran the ball well against NCC since 2006(beautiful HC day game in Wheaton) and don't expect much out of the run game on Saturday.  Wheaton's fast WRs will be the deciding factor this year.  Last year NCC's physical DB's abused Pokorony and Ellis at the LOS which killed the Thunder.  And of course Wenger was a difference maker.  Norris is one of the best leaders I have ever been around and look for him to open up the pass game with his legs.  Wheaton will win the game if they have at least 2 big pass plays.  In 06' and 07' the big play killed NCC and was the only reason they lost.  I see NCC controlling the ball control game but don't see it affecting the outcome(a lot like 06'). It will interesting to see how Wheaton's new defense affects Fanthorpe.  Wheaton must win the special teams battle and not give up any big plays.  With that said, I am very excited to see this game unravel and look for Swider to have his boys dialed in.  I see Wheaton winning in a huge upset 31-28.

Any word on Gingg's status?

And why would I tell you, Mr. "NCC will score 53 on Wheaton"?   :P

You'll get nothing from me until you can see for yourself at kickoff.  I'm not giving away injury reports unless it is for players already known to be out for the season.

New Tradition only predicted 35 points for NCC. That was I who predicted 53 points (3 missed extra points).  ;D I agree with you Mugsy though. I'm a little disappointed with my fellow Cardinals who have come on here and shared information on player status. It's never ok to share with your opponent but especially during the Wheatie Week. Unless, you're providing bogus data ...

I don't think whether or not injuries are shared with opponents should matter. It's pretty sad if you blame a loss on the opponents knowing someone was injured before you wanted them to.

A good team shouldn't care what the other team knows. Just go out and execute and do your job.

Amen.  I never posted my prediction for the game either....

It wouldn't be an upset because Wheaton is ranked 10 above The Cards...  But I see where you get the notion since all of the NCC guys are picking The cards.  There's just a lot of NCC fans voicing their opinions.

HUGE upset is clearly hyperbole, but I (definitely NOT a Card fan) am also picking NCC.  While it can't be totally dismissed, of course, I tend to heavily discount game ones; ever since they laid an egg against ONU, NCC has been devastating.  Were it not for that game, it would be NCC that would be ranked #3.  Should be a helluva a match!

But don't forget - you BOTH still have to come to Bloomington.  Even my 'green-tinted glasses' see NCC and Wheaton as probably the two top teams, but it ain't necessarily a two-team race. 8)

Watch the tape and then tell me it won't be a huge upset.

I'm simply saying that it physically can NOT be an upset because The orange and blue team is ranked higher than the Cardinals.  Therefore, by calling an upset, you are saying that NCC wins!  Another converted fan!   ;D  And what tape?  If you are referring to last year I was at the game.  But in all reality, I can't wait for the game... and to see my beloved North Central hoist the bell on the 50 yard line in the middle of the NC!  But it will definitely be a great game to watch as these two juggernauts go at it.  :)

Some interesting quotes about Cardinals from Life Histories of Familiar North American Birds published in 1968.

"Chapman (1912) refers to the cardinal as "rather a clumsy fellow. His body appears to be stiff, as if it were made of wood, different in every way from the pliant, lithe body of the Catbird, for example. He hops about on the ground with tail held well up out of harm's way, and comes heavily down upon his feet, as if his body were really very solid. In fact, he is not at all a graceful bird."

"Some observers have stated that cardinals seldom bathe, or that the male rarely does so."

"Cardinals, like some other birds, are sometimes addicted to the curious habit of "anting"; this consists of picking up ants, crushing them and rubbing them through the plumage, under the wings, about the thighs, and at the base of the tail;..."

New Tradition- I saw a couple of posts back you are living outside of IL?  where you at?  What are you doing nowadays?  Hope all is well.  -M

JB, I'm teaching history and coaching football down here on the Navajo Reservation in AZ.  I'm having an AWESOME time and I really love it, but sorely miss watching my Cards every Saturday.  (D1 football on TV doesn't even come close to compensating).  On the bright side, the team I'm coaching just clinched a conference title last night!  I'm glad to hear (via posts) that so much awesome and exciting stuff is going on in YOUR life.  Congrats on everything!

Teaching on the Navajo Reservation in AZ, how cool!  Good for you.

I've been to that area on 2 occasions with the high school group from my church.  Wonderful people to spend time with and to work alongside on various projects - building a playground, painting a church, etc...

Just wanted to say good luck to the cardinals tomorrow!! My son is a freshman so all of this is new to us. We are looking forward to seeing a good game with a NCC victory! Maybe I'll have to buy some NCC gear and shed the green from the last four years.

Welcome, newcardfan!  Always good to have more Red and White faithful on the message boards, especially during bell week.  As a (relatively) recent grad, I can assure you that your boy made a fantastic choice about where to play football, and more importantly, where to get an education.  I'm looking forward to reading your posts for the next 4 years!

I agree with Ypsi about season openers.  One of Wheaton's 2 best teams in the last decade was 2002 where they lost their first game to Alma and then rolled through the CCIW 7-0, Scoring  319 pts and giving up only  87.   This North Central team seems similar.

Thanks newtradition. It took him awhile to choose(drove us crazy) but he wanted to be able to play football and run track. We think he made a great choice. Can't wait to see him develop in both.
