I guess I need to use the spell check button - sorry, hate these forums!   ;D

Bunch of cry babies and that is why since I can remember why NCC was not very good at football.  Stick to track and field.  Game over...  I can remember whoopin NCC 40+ to nothing year over year...

NCC - what's wrong, are you going to keep crying some more or start playing like a real football team!  There, is that better?

Masko,

Lets be realistic and not socially-challenged.  These are fans complaining about the call, not the team.  The team is getting ready for NP and a playoff berth.  There, is that better?

As far as taking the grievence to the NCAA, I believe that is going to be done. Not by me, but by those who are in a position to make the case.  This is not a case of whining but a clear dispute of how the game was officiated.  To the following poster "offsides", "neutral zone" lets quibble!

nccfan1,

Can you please name the last time in ANY sport at ANY level the ruling of an official/referee has been reversed after the game is in the books?  I know of a few occurrances where the officials mentioned after the fact that they may have missed the call, but it hasn't resulted in overturning the results of the game.  NCC has every right to file a grievance, but it isn't going to change anything.

You can continue to rant on how NCC was robbed by corrupt officials and blather on about your conspiracy theories, but believe me... it isn't going to do any good.  You'll continue to be ostracized as a whiner, baby, etc... by most on this post (ironcially even by some NCC fans) and in the end, NOTHING will change.  NCC will still go to the playoffs (barring an absolute disaster).  Believe me I understand how you feel... the 86' Wheaton/Augie game was brought up, which ended under very similar circumstances - a horrible call by the official leading to a game winning Augie FG with 6 seconds.  But I don't recall anyone I knew associate with the Wheaton program crying about the injustice.  Instead we used it as motivation to make sure we didn't allow the result of a game to even come down to an officials call.  I didn't see the game, but from what posters have said (even NCC guys), NCC made several mistakes that cost them the chance to win the game and make the last play a moot point.

At least NCC will be going to the playoffs... that game in 86' ended our season.  Don't let the result of a game you can not change consume you to the point that you don't enjoy the rest of the season.  NCC will play on... they still have the chance to prove how good they are in the playoffs.  Let it go...

I'm finding all this talk about cheap shots, late hits, classless players and fans rather refreshing and amusing particularly since none of it has anything to do with Carthage. There were volumns of posts pointing fingers at the Red Men mid-season. Looks like it is all just a function of the highly volital, emotional game of football which we all obviously love. No one ever seems to complain when a Ref's bad call favors their team (and it happens more than any fan will admit because of human error & poor judgement) so complaining about bad calls that favor an opponent is a little hypocritical IMO. :) Bottom line is both NCC and Augie will represent the CCIW in the post season and that's the prize most worth playing for.

nccfan1

For the record, I am not a member of the NCC team.  I don't even attend NCC. I am strictly a fan.  Mugsy;  you give an example of a horrible call. Was the call deliberate or just a bad mistake?  I know that the score cannot be changed.  Greivences are often filed in sports knowing that the result will not change but the aggrieved parties might be seeking something like an official apology.  I will state for the last time that I believe that an official deliberately effected the outcome of the game.  Missed chances the NCC may have had to score have nothing to do with point being made.  I have done my best to make my point.  This is the last post I will make concerning this subject.

That's what I wanted to hear!  Now you sound like your hungry and want it!  Crying and complaining about a questionable call will do NCC no good, especially when Augie drove the ball down to win the game.  I do not believe the ref just made it up so Augie can kick the ball again.  There was some movement!  Bottom line, Cards did not play well enough to win....

Augiedogie:
When Carthage played at Wheaton we parked in the Billy Graham Center parking lot on the corner of Chase street and College Ave directly across the street from the west end-zone of the field. The lot is large and was probably more than half empty at Kick-off. Parking shouldn't be an issue although I would venture to suggest maybe a few more fans may attend your game due to the nature of the rivalry.

If  the penalty was for lining up offsides, the flag should have come out even earlier than if it was encroachment and certainly not AFTER the kick was blocked. Many people are making great points. There should be an official apology from the official, nothing will change the outcome( they won't get both teams back together for an overtime), everyone needs to move on and get ready for a great playoff run by two great teams. The debate is great, but there will never be a conclusion to it, or a winner, if you will. And yes, the players and coaches are preparing to do some major damage to NP.

nccfan1,
How could I possibly discern the difference between a horrible call and a deliberate call?  Did it affect the outcome of the game?  Yes... was it intentional?  NO WAY of knowing.

On what body of evidence can one claim it was deliberate?  Do you have any emperical evidence to support your claim other than "how horrible" the call was?  Do you have evidence of money changing hands?  Do you have proof of motives by the officials?  Gimme  a break.  In many facets of life, making such claims without proper body of evidence is pure and simple slander.  (disclaimer and stating the obvious... I'm not a lawyer)

Do us all a favor and let it go...

Nccfan1,

I think you should turn it in to ESPN and maybe they'll make a Top Five Reasons you can't blame the Cardinals for losing the 2005 CCIW Championship.

cardinal20

Pardon me, Top Five Reasons you can't blame the referees would be more logical. Either way, I agree that this issue is closed and if there was cheating, that still won't change the outcome.

cardinal20

-6 karma. Apparently, someone has it in for me. Let's chill with the negative karma.

Tailgator:

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure how strong of an Augie following there will be this weekend. It is the weekend before finals which might hold some of the current student body from attending the game, but there is quite a few alumni who live in the area that would possibly go to the game.

Cardinal20:

Quite hillarious about your ESPN show comment.

I do feel bad about NPU having to play NCC this weekend.  The other 3 matchups should provide for a quality finale to what has been an exciting regular season in the CCIW.
