One factor I think many are missing for the NCC/IWU game is the fact that it'll be played in a mud bowl. I understand they still have a grass field. I've seen many "favored" teams with big time offenses get beat by the elements and these types of playing conditions feed right into the strengths of a good defense. If IWU's D is as good as eveyone says ( i haven't seen them play) then these type of conditions could make for a much closer game than anyone thinks.
Another factor that any player who's played for Coach Thorne will tell you is that as much as NCC doesn't want to lose to WC due to the cross town rivalry he really hates losing to IWU since he graduated from there. I can promise you that NCC went through a week of HELL in practice.
Same as last week i think you'll see a low scoring game.
Prediction:
NCC - 21
IWU - 20
0 % chance of precipitation but 15 to 25 mph winds. High of 45%. The only woman you can't control is going to make a difference in this game! Mother Nature!

If IWU beats NCC today, it is looking like there will only be 1 CCIW team in the playoffs this year.  It'll mean that 2 of the 3 top teams in the CCIW will have 2 losses after the IWU/Wheaton game next weekend.

Actually, Wheaton was (and is) the only viable pool C anyway, so IWU/NCC doesn't really change anything.  IF IWU wins today, but Wheaton wins next week, NCC is the AQ and Wheaton would still likely be a C.

Post game interview, Coach Swider mentions Wheaton has 2 healthy TE's for the first time in 4 weeks, keying the running attack (317 yards rushing against Elmhurst).

Really nice to see Bertucci back in the line-up - I thought he was out for the season.  He makes a huge difference, both blocking and in the pass attack (1 TD today).

Right you are... forgot about the tie breaker criteria.  Neglected to take into account NCC would win the AQ in that case.

Final:

IWU 28
NCC 22 (OT)

A trememdous college football game in Bloomington.

Hats off to NCC freshman QB Spencer Stanek, who played the entire 2nd half and was very good.

Wow, great win by the Titans!  NCC just has amazing depth with Fanthorpe going out as well today.  How big is it that IWU gets Wheaton at home next week instead of in Wheaton?
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

Will be another tough game.  The Titans control their own destiny as far as the AQ goes - they have Wheaton at home, then travel to North Park.

Really proud of the Titans for hanging in the race after that tough Millikin loss.

What's really gonna be interesting is seeing all the Cardinal fans have to hold their noses and root for Wheaton next week! :o ;D

Titan Q

A tip of the cap to IWU senior QB Kraig Ladd - 340 yards and 3 TD.  Also rushed for 67 with 1 TD.

Ladd gets overshadowed by the other great QB's in the CCIW, but he's been really good in his career for the Titans.

IWU's defense gave up 346 yards, but NCC came in averaging 520 per game in the league.

A great win for IWU, congratulations.  I didnt get a chance to see or hear the game so I look forward to the boxscores and recaps.

I guess Weslayens offense WAS better with Ladd   :-\

Hate to say "I told you so", but it feels so good.  But in all seriousness, NCC played a heckuva game.  The fact that they still were right with the Titans with their backup QB in is a testament to their depth and quality of coaching.  My hat's off to my Titans, but I pick it up, put it back on, and tip it to the Cardinals.
