CCIW

None of us really know how that off side call happened....or what was going on in the minds of the Refs (maybe a coach for Augie had observed off side during the game and brought it to the refs attention before the kick....ref pays attention and there it is...off side....happens all the time).  There are so many potential factors that all we can do is speculate.  I would be very very surprised if the refs had a "dog in the fight" and therefore were biased.  Make mistakes...yes.

As someone mentioned earlier, the highly competitive, last second games between Augie and Wheaton had all the makings of "ugly conflict"....and while there was some real disappointment and clear disagreement on calls and outcomes, but it never became nasty.  It was over.

NCC has elevated their program in the CCIW pecking order.  When you play for the championship, games are highly competitive and emotional....but you are in the hunt and that is exciting.  I would just say to our NCC friends....enjoy the excitement and act like champions.

Did that same Ref go on to kick the second field goal??? No didn't think so...move on focus on NP....I'm sure augie is focused on Wheaton.

Masko,

You really don't come across any better than the Cardinal fans you are criticizing.

Mugsy,

You don't need motive...you only need the act for culpability...unless its a crime that requires a specific intent to commit the act.

Knew I might be digging myself a hole regarding legality... since I'm just a software geek.   :P Still I'm not sure how you can define the conclusive point on where something becomes intentional.  You can suspect it was intentional, but how can nccfan1 support his claim?

Anyway the evidence is there, You have not heard the last of this and that is all I can say. Again I know you may not like it but please do yourself a favor and don't tear into the topic until this travesty plays itself out. Flat out, the game was stolen.

The film has been reviewed, the results are in, North Central's defense was not offside re: last Sat's final play field goal attempt!  There was no (e.g. zero, zilch, zippo, etc.) movement prior to the snap.  The film is clear, there is no debate.  Candidly expression my opinion.....and regardless of who we 'root' for.......Short of an absolutely blatant offense, Referees should never.....ABSOLUTELY NEVER.....decide the outcome of any sporting event. This years CCIW Championship should have been decided on the field via overtime, not by an overweight, jelly donut eatin ref.  I wish congrats to all CCIW teams for a truly outstanding/entertaining season, it has been a pleasure and honor the past few years to watch the conference metamorphose into a nation leading group.  Safe and successful play wished to all participants for this weekends finale.

nccfan1, brassbell,

Does the game tape show a second kicker on the grassy knoll?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

This discussion is kind of comical actually. I know I was bitter last year when Augie lost to Wheaton on a dramatic play at the end of the game, but I know for certain that I was over it by the Tues after the game. I agree with all that have said that whatever happened it happened and it is over with. It was a great game, it had a dramatic finish, and although it is easier for me to say this since it was my team that won the game, refs make mistakes and they are going to for all games at any level of any sport.

For all the NCC fans (although most them already feel this way):
Go out and support your team next week against a far inferior NPU team. Cheer for them to win and then when it happens be happy that they made the playoffs. I for one am very pleased that the Cardinals have become the team that they have. I saw the 65-0 game in 2002 and with all honesty it is remarkable that the team has got a far as they have since that season. It was and still is a great season for you guys, remember 2005 for that, not for a couple of mistakes on one Saturday afternoon.

Good luck next week and into the playoffs (of course unless they happen to meet Augie again).

Maybe if we dont respond to NCCfan and give him the silent treament then he'll leave....well most likely not...he'd probably just change his name.  And since he insist that anyone can say anything on the board.....then i say shut up.
