good for Ittersagen...it only takes one coach to decide hes the right fit!

Jaybird is Scottie Williams back for EC?  I know he was a frosh but you never know about retention.  he was a solid player at Downers and a promising young player for the Jays.

Lakeshore-I hope he's back.  He had a pretty good beginning at EC last year.  I haven't really heard of any specific names returning/not returning yet.

I saw on the Carthage web site that the RedMen will be playing their home games at Keller Field this season.  There was some talk at the end of last season, with the building project going on, that Keller Field was not going to available.  Glad that they worked it out.

The RedMen have 90 upclassmen coming back, lead by 19 seniors.  Lets see if this experence can turn in to wins.

Carthage reports August 16.

In NFL training camp news:

From Titans camp:
QuoteIn the only fumble of the day, cornerback Pete Ittersagen scooped up a ball dropped by Chris Simms.

From Chiefs camp:
QuoteThe outside linebackers seemed to be in the backfield throughout the night, appropriately timing and disguising stunts. Andy Studebaker and Cameron Sheffield both logged would-be sacks.

Should be some great tailgating for that game as Franklin brings a huge following of tailgaters mixed with the always impressive Carthage gatherings up North!

Posted this on the WIAC board and I thought I would share this with some of my other favorite boards.

I was given this wonderful link on facebook by an ex-Warhawk coach of A.J.'s.  Wanted to share it with all of you.  So appropriate as players everywhere prepare to take the field the next few weeks.  Here's to, "The Boys of Fall"  Enjoy   :)

"They didn't let just anyone in that club
Took every ounce of heart and sweat and blood
To get to wear that game day jersey down the hall
Kings of the school, man, were the Boys of Fall"

" It's knocking heads and talking trash
It's slinging mud and dirt and grass
It's I got your number, I got your back
When your backs against the wall
You mess with one man, you got us all"

"Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!"  Dennis Miller

"Three things you don't want to be in football, slow, small and friendly!"  John Madden

"You can learn more character on the two-yard line than anywhere else in
life." Paul Dietzel / LSU

Much more than just 'receiving votes' - IWU is 26th (just 2 pts. shy of 25th) and Wheaton is 28th (only 11 more pts. behind).  If the CCIW can start well in the non-con games, we could easily have 3 teams in the Top 25 by week 2 or 3! :)

While this may be heresy from this 'bleeds green' guy, I fear IWU may be over-ranked.  The graduation losses were extreme - we'll just have to hope the back-ups are talented and ready.

Don't know how many of you noticed, since it was just a little link on the front page of D3, but the CCIW coaches held a live webchat today on the CCIW website.

Here's the transcript:
