Also now that I am able to give Karma+ some of you will be noticing some +'s in the coming days. I have promised quite a few in the past and need to catch up  8-)....one day at a time. I actually found the notepad where I was keeping track last week. I didn't keep tracks of smite's though so everyone is off the hook on those  ;D

How do you even get "karma power" anyway? I've been wondering about that.....

The best way to get "karma power" is to complain everytime someone takes away from your karma, call them naive and pathetic.... and also to challenge long time posters repeatedly until someone finally says they are "stopping this nonsense" and ending the conversation.    :)

Don't forget the ever popular, "End of story" when concluding your point!  ;)

That's a completely ridiculous thing to say.  Watch the tape!

"I don't care who you are, that's funny."

All this karma talk, combined with the early season dominance of the alma matre (NCC), has put me in a giving mood. Karma for everyone on this page!

Edit: And by "this page" I mean the previous page...since I started a new page!
You win! You always do!

Hockaday was a heck of a quarterback from Maroa-Forsyth which is just north of Millikin. I found a quote from an article when he transferred from EIU to Millikin in 2009:

"Hockaday quarterbacked Maroa to a Class 2A state title in 2006, throwing for 2,844 yards and 39 touchdowns. His 95 touchdown passes are the most in IHSA history, and his career total of 7,146 passing yards is sixth."

Pretty impressive in high school but I have some questions: did he peak? Was it because he was at a smaller 2A high school and out shined the competition? Does he have any support at the WR position? Has this been the case all season or just this past game? Does he have O-line support?

All questions I would be interested in hearing from oldnuthin and neondeon or anyone else that has been to a couple of Millikin games this year. I think that Carthage has the upper hand this week, especially being at home/ homecoming and I know the Red Men have always had the ability to learn, forget and move on.

In high school Hockaday had the freedom and time to change a play at the line of scrimmage.  He also played for a pretty successful high school coach that designed the offense to get the ball in the hands of his play makers in open space.  Millikin has a pretty good offensive line this year, as you can see they run the ball pretty darn well.  Obviously Millikin game plans to get Wilson the ball 30 times a game.  But, Millikin has four pretty darn good receivers.  #4 is a transfer from Western Michigan, #19 has deep threat speed, and #10 catches everything that is thrown to him, but he is hardly on the field anymore. #21 is a great possession receiver, but got injured in the 1st half of the Auge game.  I just think that game vs. Auge came down to coaching, and Auge won that battle.  We had a chance to show confidence in our kids, and we decided to play not to lose instead of to win.  Worst part is, the players realized it.

Hockaday's 2009 stats
125-222 1515 yards 15 td's and 6 int's

Not exactly Dan Marino, but not bad.

Is there anyone out there that has an interest in what Augustana might do this weekend?

With predictions of temps in the mid to upper 80's and sunny this Saturday it will seem more like a early season football game in Rock Island.

I find this matchup b/w North Central and Augie very interesting.
Right now, both teams are giving up the fewest yards per game of all conf schools.

North Central is of course the heavy favorite and reasonably so...... their defense seems to be stellar.  I am not sure the Vikings will be able to move the ball against their run defense.  (I never thought I would hear myself say that about any Augie team.)  That being said, I think if the Vikes can rush for about 100 yds in the game, I think they will have chance to win the game.

Augie must................... 1) Rush for 100yds
                                    2) Win the TO battle
                                    3) Hold  the Cardinal to 28 pts or less.

A little Ericson magic and a large homecoming contigent wouldn't hurt either!!!

It is great to see Jordan Tassio helping the Cardinals establish a solid run game.  I also think Kukoc is stepping up and making some great plays on offense.   Crackel does a nice job of running the offense and not turning the ball over.  When you have a Top 10 defense, great field position just helps that much more.

P.S.  Dace's 49 yard field goal on Saturday was good from 55...very exciting to have that weapon!

Olivet, Cornell, and Carthage didn't have what you would call "bruising" rushing attacks but Eau Claire had big fast O-line and a 6-3 241 lb. running back and they couldn't put a dent into NCC's rushing defense.  I think Augie would have trouble getting 50 yards on them.

I tend to agree with you here

The line in the OAC pick em board is NCC -24pts. I don't think Augie loses in Rock Island by 24 but I do think NCC is a heavy favorite. I think NCC -17 is reasonable.

Carthage needs to bounce back this week with a win.  After seeing the beat down in Naperville, I hope that NC is THAT good and that the Redmen still have a pretty good team.  The defense needs to play well and prevent long time contolling drives by Millikin.  Evan Jones and the O line needs to put last week behind them and get this offense rolling again.

Current IHSA career TD pass and yardage leader is Wheaton QB Jordan Roberts from A. Christian.

lakeshore,

Nice catch.  I was going to respond as such last night, but got sidetracked with the kids.  Jordan broke it by just a little bit. :)

To me the one that stands out in the list is Jon Beutjer from Wheaton Warrenville South.  He is sixth in the overall list with 79, but he had 60 TD's his senior year.  That was a scary good high school team.

Tim Brasic of Riverside had 58 TD's in his senior campaign.
