Mr. Flynn

He was wide open but you would expect to see a little DB gain on someone as big as Fiedorowicz and it didn't happen.

CCIW Players of the Week announced:

QuoteNAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Augustana's David Lee, Illinois Wesleyan's Ryan Gresko and Wheaton's Micah Markley were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.

Lee, a junior quarterback from Springfield, Ill., and Springfield High School, broke his own school record for single game passing yards with 429 in a 43-16 win over Carthage on Saturday. Lee completed 28-of-41 passes with three touchdowns and no interceptions. He completed passes to 10 different receivers with Corbett Ball (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and Kyle Hundman (Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic) each catching eight. He is currently fourth on Augustana's career yardage list with 3,242 passing yards. Lee is also fourth on the school's single season list with 1,512 passing yards. He is a Business Administration major.

Gresko, a junior linebacker from Woodridge, Ill., and Downers Grove North High School, led an Illinois Wesleyan defense that limited Elmhurst to 15 rushing yards in a 30-26 win over the Bluejays on Saturday. Gresko had seven total tackles, including five solo, with a quarterback sack for -9 yards and a pass breakup. He also assisted on two more tackles for lost yardage. Gresko is a business major.

Pretty funny video satire on "hard knocks" by ESPN's Kenny Mayne about the Tennessee Titan's Jeff Fisher. The video has Pete Ittersagen as one of the participants.

I did see some Wheaton coaches there scouting, but i guess we  wont know their thoughts  on what they saw, until November.

Interesting. I have been led to believe that it is an NCAA violation to send members of a Coaching staff to scout an opponent's game live. Thus the reason you exchange the previous weekend game tapes with your next opponent. Is this factual? If so, could there be an NCAA  sanction against Wheaton brewing?  :o ;) ;D

I can guarantee that whomever he saw was not Wheaton coaches. The thunder had a night game so some of the fans may have wandered over. There is very little chance any wheaton coaches were at the ncc millikin game.

Pat Coleman

The NCAA only regulates live scouting in the playoffs, I believe. Conferences may have their own bylaws on the subject, however.

It's definitely against conference rules for coaches to live scout in the CCIW

thats a strong assumption for accusing coaches of advance scouting.  It is def against CCIW rules but not sure why the coaches would live scout a game they will have access to on video as well as prob every other conf game.

Anyone know the reason for this rule? It really doesn't seem so horrible to have opposing teams coaches at a game to scout, it's not like they're sitting at a practice or standing on the sidelines listening to play calls.

I would guess a big part of it is that it equals everything out.  It would be a heck of a lot more difficult for Millikin, Augie and Carthage to scout than it would be for the more centralized schools.  With budgets tight every year, running coaches around scouting is a waste if you are getting the video.

I didn't think oldnuthin was accusing Wheaton of anything. It seems he was unaware of the live scouting rule and was just pointing that some people who he assumed to be Wheaton coaches were at the NCC-Millikin game.

But somebody was scouting the game. I sit at the top of the stadium. There was a person two rows ahead of me on his cell phone at the start of the game. He began to yell into phone and I could hear him clearly. He was calling out the offensive formation, motion, and the movement by the QB and running backs. This was far more information than if he was just calling a friend. He seemed agitated, so their communication was less than perfect. He shut his phone and left the stands quickly. Didn't see him again.  He wore nothing that indicated his allegiance to any school. I really didn't think too much of this.

Years ago, I was a live scout. Most of what we did would be unnecessary today given the quality of "game film" today. However, things of interest that a live scout could pick up are substitution patterns and in-game injuries.

thank you for your defense Gator. I certainly don't know the rules regarding scouting, and meant no harm. As far as it being a strong assumption, deductive reasoning led me that thought. Wheaton gear 3 guys together, i don't think it is hard to make that judgement. Scouting is done all the time at the high school games I go to, so it seemed like a natural progression.
