Perhaps instead of trying to run the option, NPU needs to fetchez le vache when the Vikings are playing Wheaton.

(Incidentally, I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't think that a catapulted cow flying through the air and landing on somebody is funny.)

I knew Usee would come through with the answer!   Mugsy, great stuff!  One of the all time under appreciated classics!   :D  Whatever happened to "Go Thunder"?   Did he move in with you, Mugsy?   :P

Sorry, no room in the Inn.  :)  Not sure where "Go Thunder" has gone.

This week's schedule of games is really interesting.  You have the two games between IWU & NCC, and Carthage & Wheaton.  Those games have some implications ie conference standings, payback.

However, the game that I am finding most interesting this week is Millikin v Elmhurst.  I think these two teams are evenly matched at this point.  Will the Elmhurst offense be able to break through?  Who will step up on defense?  Will Wilson have a dominating performance?  Is a colored bird tougher than a large color?  We'll see on Saturday!

Is a colored bird tougher than a mythical Greek superbeing? Is a sound wave produced by superheated air emanating from an electrical discharge in the atmosphere tougher than a pouch of chewing tobacco? Is a medieval Scandinavian sea raider tougher than himself? Questions we all wonder to ourselves every day, no doubt. ;)

Is an eastern based medieval Scandinavian sea raider tougher than a western based medieval Scandinavian sea raider?  Is a river based sea raider tougher than a large body of freshwater based sea raider?  ;)

Not to nitpick, but North Park is located on a river as well ... although NPU's river (the North Branch of the Chicago River) is pretty shabby when compared to the mighty Father of Waters that rolls through the Quad Cities. On the other hand, the North Branch is potent enough to have deluged North Park's south campus beneath a flood two autumns ago, whereas I don't think that the Mississippi River has ever swamped the Augustana campus.

NPU's riparian environment is augmented as well by a canal, the North Shore Channel, which runs behind the stands of the Holmgren Athletic Complex on its way to its Lake Michigan estuary next to the Ba'hai Temple in Wilmette. The North Shore Channel is the body of water that the NPU rowing team uses for practice and for its home meet. It converges with the North Branch just behind the NPU baseball team's batting cages. Over the years the NPU athletic department has lost a small fortune in baseballs and soccer balls that have been batted or booted into both the river and the canal.

Lake Michigan is a little less than three miles east of the NPU campus.

I tried to get that IWU getting 3 at home line last weekend vs Elmhurst but couldn't find it at MGM Grand, Caesar's, or Mirage.

Where is your sportsbook located, Usee?  Do you give out free drink coupons for those betting?  Any Teaser or Super Teaser cards?  (Would like to tease the Titans to +30 or so if I can.)

Well, the titans won by 3 so it wasn't completely horrible. :) At least it was better than my Augie @ carthage line! and I was only 2pts away on my Millkin @ NCC spread. I am working at it. If you want action on my spreads you will have to PM me and make me an offer that's interesting. :)

I'm surprised at the spread in the battle of the Blue.  I really thought that game would be a tossup.   I think Wheaton pounds Carthage.   I just wasn't impressed with the O and D lines of Carthage.

;D

While at least one or two games will inevitably get out of hand, with spreads that large I'd be tempted to take all four 'dogs (Augie/NPU I'd be torn; with Elmhurst/Millikin I'm undecided for the pickems at even-up!).

Much like last year (though Carthage did beat Wheaton  :-[), for the season Carthage is just giving up too much on defense.  Carthage is allowing 29 points a game and 391.8 yards per game.

Carthage has 2 of the 5 victories by Wheaton opponents at McCully field since 2002 (Wheaton is something like 36-5 at home over that period), so clearly they are comfortable playing in Wheaton.

Carthage has seemed to have Wheaton's number every other year and then get thumped in between.

2006: 52-3 Wheaton
2007: 35-27 Carthage
2008: 51-24 Wheaton
2009: 35-30 Carthage (TD with 38 seconds to win it)
2010: ?

Carthage is clearly capable, but I would be leaning at Wheaton by at least 14 on Saturday.  Wheaton is focused on avoiding the late season swoon and has some level of payback on their mind from last year.

For Elmhurst it is going to be the halftime adjustments that are going to determine their second half future.  To dissect it further, the first 5-7 minutes of the 3rd quarter.  Of their losses the last 2 years, most can be pinpointed to halftime adjustments. Either by the opponent and/or lack there of by EC.
