Augie2000:
As we are observing Veterans day today, I would like to thank you, your family and particularly your two boys for their ultimate sacriface in service to our nation. I can't begin to express my greatfulness and sincere respect for those who choose to serve simply with my words. Please accept my regrets and admiration for your sons and your loss.

Nothing I can add to Tailgator's comment... it is right on the mark.  I echo his comment.

Thank you Irish and Mugsy, However I need to clarify when I say "boys" I mean two of my very close highschool buddies, It shouldn't make a difference though, they sill lost their lives for our country. I played football with them and I know that they put just as much effort into the task that they were ask to complete as they did on the field with me every friday night.  Thank you to all of the veterans that have helped make this Great Country that we all live in greater!

Sorry I don't know where I got the Irish b ut, thank you tailgator

Really looking forward to tomorrow's Augie/Wheaton game.  I believe it will be a very close game with Augie turning the tables and getting a late drive to finally beat Wheaton (at least I hope that's how it works out).  Good luck to both teams and all of the teams finishing out the regular season.  It's been a great year for CCIW football.  GO AUGIE!!!

Irish21,

I agree that the stat from the Sun Times is impressive, but I would be surprised if its a record.  Unless my math is off, it would mean that beginning in 1978 through the 2005 season, a team would need to win a minimum of 7 conference championships every 4 years to achieve this.  I'm guessing that other teams may have accomplished this.  I think a more impressive stat is the fact that Augie has won 15 CCIW championships during that same time period.  Considering the quality of football played in the conference, this is a phenomenal achievement.

Is running back coach Lloyd Krumlauf the former head coach from the 80's?  I played one year the 83 seasons and I can't remember the coach's name.  Also please be nice I reserve to root for my favorite team and to express it the way I want.  Besides I was addressing the Wheaton fans that are familiar with this seasons troubles.  I watched first string O vs. first string D and although both look good the offense looks sharp like last year.

Yes, That is one and the same famous Krumlauf.  He has been instrumental in the renewed alumni support of the program.  Please root for your favorite team any way you wish and accept the good natured ribbing as nothing more than that.  Your favorite team winning tomorrow helps out my favorite team in a big way if it happens.

Sterny

Haven't posted in a long time.  I got too depressed after the IWU-Wheaton debacle (did I spell it right?!).  Reviewing the different predictions everyone made at the beginning, it seems we all under-estimated Augie (with the exceptions being the augie faithful).  That being said, I will predict a Wheaton victory tomorrow mostly because I'm a total homer, but also because of JR.  I know he motivated me when I was there.

Go Thunder, could you send me a link to the cool helmet icon you have.

I'm puzzled that none of the Carthage fans ever called me on my byline earlier in the season when I occasionally posted. ;D

With the regular season coming to an end today I would just like to say that it was a great 2005 for the conference.

NCC/Augie was yet another classic for the AQ

Elmhurst is showing that there are more competitive teams that are entering the CCIW ranks, something that can only help the conference.

Also I saw a lot of surprises this year as well.

IWU and Millikin both having disappointing years might be showing a changing of the guard with NCC and Carthage (with Elmhurst tailing closely) moving into the ranks of top 4.

Also the couple of upsets that really stirred things up showed that any team in CCIW can lose if they don't bring their game, another credit to the conference and its strength. The Augie/Elmhurst game and Elmhurst's upset down at Millikin as well as IWU/ Wheaton really turned some heads from what was thought would happen early.

As Augie and NCC (hopefully) get ready for the playoffs I would like to say that 2005 was a great CCIW season, and 2006 should once again be an exciting year.

Also and early prediction for 2006: ELMHURST will beat one of the big 3 in 2006. That Augie game was impressive until they had to push late, and if they can finish they will be a force next year.

This problem with WETN's radio station is killing me.  I didn't plan on listening to a Wheaton v Gustavus Adolphus soccer game.  sigh
