seriously one of the best "Around the Nation" articles I have read on this week's front page.  Pat and Keith's coverage of D3 rivals most D1 coverage.  Plus the pictures keep getting better and better.  Nice unis for St. Lawrence.

Per a Millikin alum friend of mine, MU QB Luke Hockaday is out this week with a concussion, and maybe for the year.

Interesting info Q, what do you hear on Eli Williams?

AndOne

For any Green fans thinking of venturing north for the Homecoming game at North Central, the forecast for the 2 PM kickoff is-----thunderstorms, 63 degrees, and winds from the south at 14 mph. Chance of precip is 60%.

Indeed. The new look is great and all, but the thing that's really impressive about "Around the Nation" is what a first-class journalist and sportswriter Keith McMillan has become.

He is playing vs North Central.

When QB Brien Rooney and RB's Eli Williams and Bo Lanter are all healthy, IWU has a pretty dangerous running game.  To compete with NCC, the Titans will have to throw the ball successfully though.  I was encouraged last week (was in Bloomington at the game) that the Titans came out throwing early vs Elmhurst.  IWU does have several good WR's and I'd love to see Rooney find them early Saturday. If the Titans cannot throw it, it could get ugly early.

Bo Lanter is kind of a "what could have been" story unfortunately.  He was really good as a freshman (54 yards per game), playing behind Marcus Dunlop, but was hurt virtually his entire SO and JR seasons.  It's good to see him have success as a SR.

ESPN College GameDay will be here in Columbia, MO tomorrow morning.  I will be the guy holding the "Go Titans" sign.

Thanks for the update, i will look for the sign. Without hochaday, the back up brings a different dynamic to the game, and he really has a strong arm. Hoping the Blue can go 4-0 to finish out the season.

He is done for good, it is his 4th concussion.  1 at Eastern, and 3 at Millikin.

Obviously IWU (Rooney) can't have another 4 INT week like last week against Elmhurst.  It almost cost them.  Against NCC it'll be fatal and probably lead to a blow-out.  IWU can't afford turnovers this week.

Stagg Again!!

Great bulletin board material for NCC in today's Triple Take:

"Most likely Top 25 team to get upset.
Ryan's take: No. 6 North Central. The Cardinals have a ton of offensive weapons at their disposal, so a win here for Illinois Wesleyan wouldn't be easy. But the Titans are coming off a victory against a solid Elmhurst team and should be carrying some momentum into this game. IWU will need to ask for more from its defense — more from Ryan Gresko and the rest of the linebackers and more from the secondary to stop any big plays from happening. With just one in-conference loss, IWU is still in the playoff hunt. But North Central has plenty on its mind, too: A No. 1 seed in the postseason isn't out of the question."

As if NCC didn't already have enough incentive ... 1) last year's game; 2) missing the playoffs last year as a result of said game; 3) the great write-up in Thursday's Chicago Sun-Times about IWU's defense; 4) homecoming; 5) the game being televised on NCTV17; on and now this.  I'd go with the home team if I were a betting man.

Agreed.  Despite the thoughts of some that the site is biased in one way or another, I have always enjoyed the even handedness of the coverage of the entire landscape of DIII football here.

I understand "bulletin board material" that comes in the form of an opposing player, or coach, showing a lack of respect to a team in the media, or something like that.  But do you think North Central is really going to draw motivation because a D3football.com guy (who has never seen either team) says the Cardinals are "the most likely top 25 team to get upset" (not even necessarily predicting the upset)...or from a Sun-Times article that does not praise the NCC defense as much as they'd like?

Really?

Really?

Our own Seth Meyers!   ;D

I have to admit...when I typed it, that is exactly what I was hearing in my head!  Also heard Amy Poehler adding another "Really?"

Titan Q

And some more now that I think about it...

North Central is really going to get extra fired up for this game because they lost in Bloomington last year?  The Cardinals are so mad about a loss a year ago that it will motivate them even more than the major CCIW championship/NCAA tournament seeding implications will?

Really?
