It's not just the "green team" who should be recognized.   ::)

At the time I posted that I had no way to know who else made the team, Mugsy.  I was just going off an IWU press release, which I linked to.

Ok.  But the IWU press release had a link to the entire list of players.  My true intent was just to make sure all CCIW players received the recognition due to them.

If that link was there when I posted it, I completely missed it.  I actually went to both the CCIW and CoSIDA websites to find the complete teams and there was nothing there...I also wanted to recognize the other CCIW players.  My apologies.

No problem.  Link probably wasn't there in initial press release, but is there now.  Wheaton's had it, so that is why I added other names (though some incorrectly spelled).

Beautiful day for Super Saturday at Wheaton with 3 conference championships in a row.

WETN is going live with pregame coverage for the football game at 12:30.

You win some, you lose some, and sometimes it rains.

Tough news out of Wheaton that will impact their ability to upset North Central.  I'm sure it'll be obvious to those tracking the game.

I'm heading out to the game right now.  Nice to live less than a mile away.  I'll post something via my cell phone when I confirm the status of the individual.

That stinks. I was hoping both teams would go into the game 100% healthy.   Let's go Cards!

After watching NCC/Wheaton online (love technology), I came away impressed with NCC's defense..but I don't know if they have the offense to make a long run in the playoffs.
You win! You always do!

Congrats Cards!  You have an excellent defense.  On the day you were clearly tops of the CCIW.  I stink at the pick ems, but I really see a long playoff run with that defense.  I also thought that today was the best use of the "Wildcat" style offense that I have seen.  I tend to think the Wildcat is a trick play kind of set, but the Cards used that thing darn effectively as a regular set, especially in the first half.

After about 6 minutes of the third quarter, it was apparent to me who was going to win.  I didn't really feel any doubt after Wheaton failed to score on their first possesion that North Central was going to come out on top.  Use the Pool A Berth wisely!

I was a bit disappointed at how unprepared Wheaton's run defense looked in the first half.  Completely lost.  Not very encouraging.  On the other hand, the way they stopped the run in the second half was good.

Since I couldn't really tell from watching online, I'm interested in what everyone thought about the defensive holding call in the fourth quarter which continued North Central's drive leading to their final TD.  The Wheaton announcers, which are actually not very homerish, seemed to be a bit befuddled.  Since that call in no way really affected the game, I just wanted other people's opinions.

Again, Wheaton penalties hurt them.  The personal foul on North Central's sideline in the same drive as above was infuriating.  North Central certainly seemed to have the more disciplined team, at least on this day.

I hope that Wenger is ok.  That is a bit concerning that two weeks in a row he has struggled with stingers as he left the game immediately after destroying a Wheaton receiver.

Congrats North Central, keep the Bell warm for us!  ;D

My exact thought after watching the game.  NCC used the wildcat offense for a majority of the game and once Wheaton made the adjustments at half, the NCC offense wasn't nearly as effective.  NCC will need more offense late in the playoffs.  Their defense is every bit of good enough for a deep drive into the playoffs.

Congrats to NCC on a solid win.  Their defense is tough, seriously tough.

Really hurt Wheaton to not have Jordan Roberts at QB with his dual threat to run and pass.  Roberts slammed his hand into a helmet during Thursday's practice and couldn't even grip the ball until this morning.  Not sure if it is a break or a sprain.  I'm sure the game plan would have included using Roberts ability to hurt you via the run or pass.  Whether or not it would have made enough of a difference, well that is up for debate.

Wheaton offense really struggled in the 1st half.  Didn't help that Wheaton's first drive was a "3 and out" on 3 passes.  That was sandwiched in between 2 very long, sustained NCC drives.  NCC had the ball virtually the entire 1st quarter. Meader made a couple of very, very ill advised passes, one at the end of the half with Wheaton in FG range.

Wheaton defense had zero contain in the first half which lead to two of the NCC TD's.  Same play gained  next to nothing in the 2nd half.

Huge stupid penalties for Wheaton in the game.  Particularly on the last NCC TD drive in the 2nd half.  After Kukoc losses 15 yards on an ill advise reversal of field, instead of facing 3rd and 35 from midfield, a bonehead personal foul on Wheaton gives NCC a 1st and 10 from the 20.  NCC eventually scored on a perfect pass (well defended).  Personal foul was off the play where a Wheaton player nailed a NCC OL in the back after the whistle.  Coach Swider alluded to it after the game.  Just a stupid play.

Not sure of the stats in the 2nd half, but a much, much closer game after complete dominance by NCC in the first half (mostly off the option in the wildcat with zippo pitch contain).

The wildcat NCC ran in the first half was a variation that they hadn't shown all year.  Once Wheaton made the adjustment in the 2nd half to use the DE on the QB (really a RB in the wildcat) and then the OLB on pitch, that play really didn't net much.  First half it killed Wheaton!

I don't think they necessarily have to be a dominant offense.  Wheaton was able to move the ball, but once the rubber hit the road, the Thunder came away with only 6 points after having the opportunity for 21.

Other obvious point to make is that Wheaton absolutely needed a clean game - no turnovers, few penalties.  They didn't get either and against the likes of NCC that is doom.

Agreed that the first half doomed the Thunder.  That being said, you have to compliment Thorne on pulling out something different.  It was the difference maker in the game.  Also, to the NCC players for making it work when they had Wheaton on their heels.
