All those stats are impressive but they won't matter if NCC is 10-1 after this weekend.

All stats out the window at play-off time. That's why they play the game. Let's go CARDS!

True, regular season stats don't have impact on the scores on Saturday.  But they aren't meaningless in terms of giving a sense of the relative strengths & weaknesses of each team.  It's not like the strengths and weaknesses exhibited during regular season just went away.   8-)

You're right, but come play-off time they don't matter if you don't continue to do the things that got you there. It's not about what "should" happen but what each team makes happen. There is something about play-off football that usually brings out the best in everyone.

C'mon Roop. NCC are going to have a very fine 12-1 season under their belt when all is said and done.  ;D

while the stats are impressive for Coe coming into play, on some level their game plan might just play right into the strengths for the Thunder.  Coe is very small across the front line and their tackles are bigger, slower guys which allows East and Ramsey to use their speed to get around them and collapse the pocket, while Mitchell and Dougan should be able to use their size to move the middle of the line around.

It's going to be important for Wheaton to shut the run down early in this one and make Coe one-dimensional.  If their run defense is as solid as it was against Dion Wilson last week then Coe's going to be throwing the ball a lot.

Coe's stats line up a lot like Carthage with a running game to boot.  Brad Boyle will be the best quarterback the Thunder have seen yet this year.  I don't know how Coe got stuck as a seven seed because they're a pretty solid squad.

I predict a shootout at McCully on Saturday.  Weather calling for windy conditions on Friday but calming down on Saturday so hopefully they're right for a change ;)

Rumors out of Kenosha is that there has been some changes made to the coaching staff.
I am sure more will be announced later in the week.

I hear D coordinator and special teams guys are out.

I think the biggest thing to watch for both Wheaton and NCC as the playoffs get under way is how they are performing on offense. Both teams have issues on the offensive side with injuries, etc and when you get in the playoffs, the teams that get hot and make deep runs can all score points. You are going to end up facing teams with great defenses but the teams that can score anyway advance. Mt Union and UWW had 2 of the best defenses in the country last year and the Stagg was 38-28. Neither of those teams had given up more than 14 points in any game prior to that (well actually they each gave up 21 1x in conference play). Good/great defense can get you but you have to be able to score in D3 to go deep.

Hopefully Llavac is back for NCC and Roberts for Wheaton. Those are 2 huge pieces for each team. Without them I don't see either team making it out of their bracket.

Mr. Flynn

Hlavac played last week, he was out the previous 2 weeks with an illness.  Just watched the redzone, Thorne said that Kyle Antos was almost chosen as the Offensive player of the year over Evan Jones.

Just tell me sedaska is safe!

Nope he is one of the causalties.  Not really surprising, the Carthage D has been near or at the bottom of the conference since he got the job.

Given the defensive play over the past few years for Carthage, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

It would be a monumental win for the Knights. But then again, didn't Pete LOSE a lot of bets?  :D

The Roop

As long as they don't start in a 21-0 hole this could be game in the 4th quarter.
