As a complete outsider, I think the Round 2 game is going to make or break NCC's season and Round 1 will be the key for Wheaton.  If NCC ends up losing to Whitewater, even if a blowout, it was expected and there is no shame in losing to best team in the nation.  But if NCC gets tripped up by Ohio Northern, or gasp - Wittenberg - then the entire season is wasted.  Probably too harsh a stance, but that is what the national opinion on it will be. 

Plus factor in Wheaton's tough draw in the West bracket in Round 1 and it could be a really bad showing for the CCIW.  But if Wheaton wins Round 1, there's a decent chance they could win the region to set up another showdown in Alliance, which would be a huge success for the CCIW as a whole.

Going to be very interesting which scenario plays out.  Personally I'm pulling for both NCC and Wheaton to make at least the regional finals.  I hate to root against Ohio Northern, but I think NCC has a much better chance against UWW than ONU would. 

I completely agree with this analysis. I'll say that I think overall the CCIW was up this year over last year. This years NCC team is the best CCIW rep we have had in over 10 yrs IMO. And Wheaton is as solid as most of those CCIW playoff teams (if their QB can play). The CCIW could play 3 total playoff games or they could play 6-9 total playoff games. And the key is Wheatons game against COe and NCC vs ONU/Witt. Those will be the games we will be able to tell the relative strength of the CCIW. If both teams make a run to the regional finals or beyond, the CCIW will be cemented in the national opinion as a top 3 conference for a while.

A conference with the champion having three losses should forfeit their automatic AQ.

Be careful, USee. The Roop (ye of the name that implies they are the one and only Roop on these boards..which isn't the case, oddly enough) is warning us about the impending attack by the men from the north. Fear the Norbert!

I will be very suprised if SNC can get to double digits on the scoreboard. If they are able to keep NCC from scoring they may indeed win (they certainly won't lose).

Once you let Roop in, there goes the neighborhood.  It's like this: I wanna take up for SNC and the MWC, but I have to accept that my position is still somewhat weak.  Until we start sending men (AKA The Blueboys) in to do a man's job, we're always gonna be underdogs. But that's a year or so off.  In the meantime, as a life-long Longhorns fan, I have learned a thing or 5, recently, about overconfidence.  The game must be played.  Go Knights! Now Roop, you need to head home. It's getting late. You don't want to find yourself in this neighborhood after dark...

An indication of where the focus started off here this week...

I had to go to D3football.com this afternoon and pull up the bracket.  For the life of me I could not remember who NCC and Wheaton played tomorrow.

I don't think it is fair to judge Benedictine on where they currently stack up compared to the other teams in this year's playoff pool.  Look at where  Benedictine came from and what Coach Coop has been able to do in his tenure there.  It was not that long ago that IBC was pretty bad and a winning season was unheard of.    Building a program is not easy.  Benedictine also has to compete with EC/NC/WC (not as much) AU,  that are close to their backyards.

You are right Jaybird. Our bad. After all, they did come from the lowly depths in their program to almost beat North Park! A winning season and playoff bid is to be celebrated!
