No doubt Coach Thorne is looking for UWW weaknesses.  I am curious if he will look to open up passing based upon the results of UWW's last two games.  Lots of yardage and points against the defending champions via the air.

If you look at the opponents that gave UWW the toughest games (either in points scored or closeness of game) in the last two years, they have been good passing teams- Linfield, Mt. Union, Oshkosh, LaCrosse, Franklin and Trine.  Will NCC stick to their run heavy offense?

LaCrosse? The UW-W has shut them out two of the last three years and in 2009, UW-W held a lead of 37-7 going into the fourth quarter.  I doubt too many teams have studied the videos of those games to pattern their plan after UW-L!

Every other team you mention has a stud for a QB.  Boehme, UMU (pick one), Wara, Watt, and Ray. If Stanek fits in with that group, you should definitely fill the air with footballs (although a brief check of the teams above don't have a great overall W-L record against UW-W).  If he's not in that category, well, good luck with that.  A running team trying to change it's stripes against a team as good as UW-W sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Yep- that's probably not for me. I prefer pointless sarcasm over  talking football just take a look at my posting history. Good luck though.

TC5825 = Usee will talk football with you all you want. Have you not been following the board for long? He is one of the most knowledgable and respected posters on here.

Though it was before my time, and my experience is purely anecdotal.is someone trying to turn this board into the old IBC board?

TCrawf-   I have been following this board for years as I played for the Cards some years ago.  Your "banter" back and forth with USee and Cardinaldad and WashdupCard is not banter.  You seem to be looking for a fight with them.  IMO, you are making Cardinal fans look bad.  And as a former player (and a current fan)  I will politely ask you to please stop picking fights with people.

As far as the earlier posts about Pile Picking.  If you talk to a football player, pile picking goes on just after the play is whistled dead.  It is when a player comes flying in around the pile (hence the name, if you didn't catch it) and hits an opponent, usually keying the person they go against, or a key player on the opposite side of the ball.  There were a few special teams players and a number of offensive players that were Pile Picked.  It's DEFINITELY not clean play.  You definitely have to have a chip on your shoulder.  However, pile picking is not the most respectable task.

Also, if you are a TRUE fan of division III football, you would know that ANY player that plays the game in college is not a cream puff, and well let's face it, probably loved the game so much they would take ANY hit in order to keep playing it.  If you played, you'd most likely know that.  I'm sure as Cardinaldad commented on the pile picking, he was most likely thinking about his own son, and how devastated he would be if his son came up with a torn ACL by BEING pile picked.  You need to take into account the people you address when you cut them down or belittle them.  I happen to know Cardinaldad personally, as well as his son.  And both are upstanding people, and know the game well.  You may want to reconsider your actions on this board before posting next time.  It would benefit us all.

Wecome to yhe board CS_I! Just for clarification, I was not only thinking of my son on Saturday. I would hate to see any player from any team to be hurt by ANY "cheap shot" type of play. Let's move on.

I work with an ONU fan and he is a good guy !  Don't judge all by a few.  Don't agree with you on the pile picking and cheap shots.  I was watching the same game as you !!!!   Time to accept that this is a contact sport and people hustle until the whistle and can't stop on a dime.   Most of the ONU penalties were a kid hustleing and blovking in the back which as a  coach (I am) is tough to take but usually caused by a hustling kid trying to make a play.  Maybe as a Dad your little boy got hit harder than you would like but this is football not chess.  We'll have to agree to disagree

Gotta love a poster who has more negative karma than posts!  ;D Any chance you're related to a certain Touchdown Tommy (aka usTDT) from the MIAC board?   8-)

Looks as if he'll be giving "Go Thunder" a run for his money on negative karma, though Go Thunder has plateaued after his initial mega spike in negative karma.   8-)
