looks like Carthage lost a WR due to transfer (per Daily Herald):

--Hersey graduate Tim Lukas, who caught 20 passes for 226 yards and 3 TDs at Div. III Carthage College last fall, has transferred to Illinois. As near as I could tell, he spent his scrimmage time on special teams. He's listed as a junior.

Does anyone know any of the QB recruits coming into UW Whitewater? I realize that it's generally not something people follow, but I'm curious who they have coming given the stock pile of QB's they same to have.

Just a hunch, but don't you think asking this question on the WIAC message board might solicite a few more successful replies. However, I know UWW doesn't announce recruits, so it still might not get you any answers you might be trolling for.  ;)

Good point, I just figured that UW would be in the Wisconsin area.

Thanks.

WHEATON COLLEGE NEWS

While not pertaining to footballl, and I apologize to the football purists, I am posting this bit of CCIW related news as often various posters will venture into other CCIW sports. In this instance I do so in hopes that the information will be of interest to our Wheaton fans, and to CCIW fans in general as it pertains to athletic funding at the D3 level, and specifically to a CCIW member institution.

Sources at Wheaton College indicated late yesterday that after eliminating funding of 5 sports a year ago, it was reinstating funding of 4 of those sports. Men's and women's golf, men's tennis, and men's indoor track will once again receive financial backing from the school. All but men's indoor track were funded this year by a group of supporters rather than the WC athletic department. It was also announced that WC will consider adding women's lacrosse as a varsity sport in 2014. Funds had previously been cut due to a decline in Wheaton's endowment. However, a large part of that loss has been recovered due to a rebound in the stock market over the past year.
The 5th sport cut, women's water polo, will become a club sport.

Pro Football Weekly released their scouting report on Mr. Wenger on their website:

"A one-man wrecking crew at the Division III level, Wenger missed the 2009 season because of a torn left ACL but surpassed 100 tackles for the third time in '10. Is short and short-armed and has some overall stiffness in his movement. However, he is tenacious in pursuit, runs well and showed good hands in a strong pro day, indicating he could be a candidate to convert to fullback."

He's ranked in the mid 500s out of 897 players, with a grade of 4.75.

On lock? CCIW people used to say that about Wheaton in men's soccer. Now? Not so much. ;)

Greg, bite your tongue!  Are you trying to tell me that Augustana no longer wins the Stagg Bowl every year??!! :o ;D

As it is every year in the NFL, there will be some serious competition for Andy Studebaker to retain his place on the KC Chiefs roster.  Looks like the Chiefs took 2 OLB's in the draft (3rd round and 5th round).

Good news is that the rookies likely won't have too much time to learn the system, so the veterans will most likely hold on to their jobs for another year (at least).

Bad news is that for guys hoping to catch on as an undrafted free agent (Wenger) are going to find it even harder to make a roster, unless this lock-out gets taken care of sooner rather than later.

Another good article on the changes coming to Decatur. I dont know coach Etherton, but I certainly like what I am hearing.

IWU  incoming recruits. If the kid from Harlem is the one  i remember from the playoffs last year, he could have a  good future with them, all others  i know nothing about.

A little more on IWU recruits...

Sounds like the top recruit in the class is considered to be Connor Klein, a 6-2/208 LB from Maine South.  He was the MVP of the 8A state championship team this past season.

The Pantagraph article says that sophomore-to-be Rob Gallik (St. Rita H.S.) will enter the 2011 season as the #1 QB.  Sounds like Norm Eash envisions Gallik and freshman-to-be Alex Hale to form a Kraig Ladd/Brien Rooney type QB tandom down the road.

Interesting that IWU lands two guys from Naperville Central.  Does anyone have the story behind it?

My view (which is always through my red and white glasses), is that  DuPage Valley kids are likely to pick North Central (or Wheaton) given the closeness to home, and recent success.
