I know that the Cardinal fans travel fairly well.  How many members of the Caravan are planning on making the trip to Redlands?  Looks like USC v. Minnesota mid-day and NCC v. Redlands in the evening should be possible.

Stagg,
You seemed to be wired into Cardinal football.  What's the back story on how the Cardinal - Redlands game was scheduled?

Millikin has announced its class of incoming Freshmen. Pretty good numbers, 38, considering the change at the top not being finalized until well into the spring. Second link to 2 new coaches and 1 promotion. Maybe the new DC can work some of his local connections to increase the number of Chicago area kids going to Decatur. Probably about 60 days until camp starts

Congrats to Keely Flood  on his promotion...Best of luck to him in his new position...

128  names on the roster to start the new fall camp. excellent job by the coaching staff in a tumultuous time. 47 new comers between transfers, freshmen and first timers from the student body.  Getting bodies does not seem like a problem, cant wait to see once they have been coached up

A couple of years ago the U of Dubuque traveled out to play Redlands.  Since that is an expensive trip, I wonder if there are any incentives or $$$ considerations for teams making that trip?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

With Vrabel retiring, I wonder if Studebaker enters the season (if there is one) as the starter...?

He'll definitely be in the mix. There was a growing sense in KC that he was outplaying Vrabel when he got on the field last year, but that's obviously recognizing Vrabel is far from his prime.

He's a very popular player in town and Pioli made him the first player under the new management that they signed a contract extension with. The sense was they were making a statement: Studebaker is our type of player...hard working, clean nosed, team oriented guy.

He'll face some competition from 3rd round pick Justin Houston out of Georgia. He's a big dude with some serious measurables who had a great JR season playing 3-4 OLB. The longer the lockout goes, however, the more you have to like Studebaker's chances of winning the starting spot. Houston will be really handicapped as a rookie this year, missing all the OTA's and mini-camps, etc. And he's only got 1 year of 3-4 experience under his belt.

My 2¢ is the Chiefs give Studebaker a good shot once the season gets started. They love his attitude and effort and he's already familiar with the playbook. But it's also the NFL and so at the end of the day he has to beat out a DI-FBS All-American who slipped in the draft because of character concerns. Here's to hoping a DIII stud can hold off a DI stud!

Wow... that's a long way from the deer stand they used to have on top of the visitor stands back in the day.

CRAP!

On a side note, Coach Swider has employed a new training technique for all LB's and secondary positions - "The Rack".  It is hoped that all secondary position players will add 2 inches by mid-September.

Totally agree.  It'll be different sitting on the east side of the field this year.
