All the recent talk about graduates in the NFL.  How did North Park's Hall of Famer get ignored?  ;)

No surprises for the poll.  I did think it was interesting that Wheaton got 2 first place votes.  One had to have been from North Central (coaches cannot vote for their own team for first), it would be interesting to know who gave Wheaton other other first place vote.

At the other end, NCC was picked first, except for one second (I join matblake in curiosity over which coach that was).

I also wonder who it could have possibly been......... ;D ;)

What so ever are you trying to insinuate?  ;D

I'm probably missing the info/joke here.   :-\ If you are thinking that Wheaton voted themselves at #1 it can't happen.  Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team: http://www.cciw.org/news/2011/8/3/FB_0803110649.aspx  So, therefore, one of the first place votes came from North Central as Coach Thorne is not allowed to vote for North Central whether it be first or eighth.  One other vote had to come from the remaining members besides Wheaton.  Can someone help me out what I'm missing?  :)

Wheaton players reporting today.  First practices tomorrow.  I'll be trying to get over to a practice or two this week, depending on work schedules.

Thanks, Mugsy.

Four days into camp. I can't wait to see what impact the new coaching staff has going forward. i thought the recruit on the Wheaton roster from New York was going to be the biggest kid by far, but we have a 6'6 300lb lineman from Lake Park. Also the staff has really jumped into the social networking arena with a twitter account and Facebook page, which has over 700 followers. Go Blue

Unless I'm slow and missing the sarcasm, I'm pretty sure he's insinuating the other vote came from Bloomington.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

Come on guys! You are all smarter than that. The clue is the COLOR the post was made in. How many CCIW teams have GREEN as one of their colors? ???

Also, I think New's post is a bit more than an insinuation--and accurate!   :)

If you missed the easiest clue in the world, post the sunglasses smiley.   8-)   Glad I'm having a training camp too.  Seems as if I'm off my game!

You are more than right. There should be more green in the CCIW. It is a great color!!  :D ;D 8-)

I don't want to guess on any votes anywhere. It will all be sorted out on the field eventually...as long as the BCS doesn't slip into D3.

This year could pose a problem come playoff time. Do you think all the intraconference competition might hinder our chance of getting (2) teams into the big dance?  I could see the runner up finisher being on the bubble for a Pool C bid.

If we end up with a 7-0 and a 6-1 top 2 in the conference, I could see the CCIW getting 2 teams in. However, more than 1 conference loss and I think you are either throwing long hail marys (ncc and wheaton) or completely out of it (the rest of the field) basing my guesses on the preseason rankings and what it would take to climb up and/or fall down.

I, for one, hope the CCIW gets 2 teams in because I believe that the top half of the conference is always stronger than more than a handful of teams in the dance that get served up to the purple on a silver platter.

In the end though, I don't think this year is any different than most years in the CCIW. Everyone is expected to play each other tough week in and week out, which is why this is one of the best conferences in d3. The middle of the conference might get a little sloppy, but we will have a 1 loss team and an undefeated team.

As a bit of CCIW related news, living in San Antonio, I'm looking forward to catching a couple games this year in the inaugural football season of the UTSA Roadrunners.  The Roadrunners are coached by Larry Coker, previously head coach at the University of Miami, and the defensive coordinator is Wheaton alum Neal Nethery.  Need to study the schedules, but perhaps I can hit a double header some Saturday with Trinity and UTSA.  Although, this probably sounds like a much better idea to me than my girlfriend.  Man, I'm sure gonna miss her.......
