With NC and Augie losing, Wheaton’s injury problems, it is going to be a crazy conference this year. Maybe it lays open the possibility of a different conference champion then we have had in the past 25 years or so…..hmmm wonder where I am headed with this?

NPU runs the table?

HA! Not exactly what I had in mind.

you fellas want to hear a bad broadcast, check out the NPU Vikings men's bball games...talk about laborous and boring...yikes.
... and overweight (Oh I mean overbearing).  ;)
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Unfortunate loss for NCC, but not the end of the world. Redlands is a good squad.

Just puts that much more importance on winning the CCIW again. Sounds to me like they will need to tighten up their defense (mainly their tackling). Other than that it sounds like they played pretty well, just couldn't pull it off.

NCC drops to 15 in the new poll.  Wheaton holds steady at 8.  Redlands enters the poll at 20.

Yeah, I sure hope that NPU isn't paying those guys anything!

#15 is not a bad spot, all things considered.  I'm not sure how happy I would be as a Redlands fan, sitting five spots below NCC.

If I were a Redlands fan, I think I would take it a bit harder if the victory had come AT NCC instead of at home.

People, people this is only 1 game, 1 week of the season.  NC is still very good and it is not surprising to lose a game you travel across the country for, and in week 1.  Everybody is nervous and not 100% sharp on opening day.

Just like NPU can be happy with the opening day win, but better bring their mojo to Lisle next week taking on the high flying Eagles.

Well said. As long as NC wins conference outright, they will be just fine. Don't count them out just yet.

I agree.  Counting out NC would be a huge mistake.

With that said, I do think that the loss gives several schools a glimmer of hope.  I can imagine the boys in Wheaton, Bloomington and Elmhurst sitting around saying "we're as good as Redlands."

I listened to Pat and Keith's podcast, and they mentioned that NCC dropped Coe as their first-week's game and decided to travel to Redlands instead.

Any insight on why NCC did that?

I don't think anyone is counting out anyone yet. As for a glimmer of hope, I think those same boys don't really care whether NCC won or lost to Redlands. They will watch the tape and use it and throw it away. The week 1 teams that just played this past weekend will be improved in all phases by the time week 4 and conference play rolls around. I am sure that those boys may have smiled when they saw NCC on the losing end, but NCC loss to Redlands means nothing for the games that will be played after October 1st.

That being said, this probably does impact the ability for the CCIW to get multiple teams into the dance. Just an outside thought. NCC may have to get the AQ to get in. Which brings up a whole other debate as to how 1 and 2 loss teams from the CCIW would probably fare better than some other at large teams that will get in.

NC has to get the AQ to get in, no room for any mistakes starting on Oct. 1st and I agree a 2 loss NC would be better than some of the AQ's and at larges from other schools. The only way that would happen would be for more teams to get into the dance or eliminate AQ's from weaker conferences. I don't see either happening any time soon.

I was wondering this as well. Obviously in hindsight it looks like they should have kept Coe!

3 drives ended in FGs. One missed extra point, one missed FG. The offense left a lot of points on the field.
