To Wheaton fans if you want to see a home game go tonight or wait more than 5 weeks for the next home game on 10/6 homecoming vs Carthage.  No home games during the entire month of September.
Good luck to all CCIW teams.
Tonight Go Wheaton Thunder.

One more thought if any of the parents involved in the sales are reading.  Can you possibly start a T-shirt button campaign similar to the Beat Augie we used to have but using Beat North Central.  Last year there were beat Wheaton T-shirts buttons and other paraphernalia everywhere being worn and sold even though we haven't beat them in years.  They are our rivalry and I think we should get the fans and team in sync acknowledging that fact.
Thanks a Wheaton fan.

The "Beat Wheaton "T-shirts are sold as part of the fundraising for the FCA football spring habitat trip. That's funny you should mention buttons, as the group will be selling them at the first game this year. The buttons will have North Central Football around the player's # in the middle. Just a suggestion.

.  Would help if the Administration and school cinergize a little better.
79JB - While i do always appreciate you attempting to keep EC a relevant topic on the D3 boards through the years, i do have to respectfully disagree with your observation/assertion above.

The College has gone to great lengths to support the program since Lester arrived and has committed substantial resources over the last 5 years.  Brand new, state-of-the-art field-turf surface and permanent lighting installed at Langhorst in 2011, new alternate jerseys in 2011, big time upgrades in gear (warm-ups, under armour, sweats, etc), expansion and upgrade of the locker room, new scoreboard, fitness center upgrades, expanding the full-time coaching staff, and incredible upgrades to and expansion of the football offices and technology services.

The administration at EC has been very intentional with its support of the program, now the Jays just have to get their part done ON the field.
I would have to agree with this from the "Ghost." Not to mention if you look at the stadium this year alone. The increased signage and seat backs they put in has given "the horst" a college atmosphere it has never had before. Although I would say a new press box is needed, the amount of money that has gone to the football program in the last five years is impressive. What the coaches have done also with fundraising as well has brought the program to new levels. Not mentioned was the commitment to send coaches nationwide to recruit. It is not just one trip to Florida any more as you can see from their roster. This all takes money and a commitment from the administration. This is the year...I can feel it!

That's the plan, as of right now. But I still have to figure out how to operate the software, since this is the first time that I'll be broadcasting off-site with the new Sidearm package that NPU acquired late last fall. Stay tuned for a further announcement.

Greg:

Although we'll both be busy Saturday, hopefully we'll be able to meet in person and visit for a few minutes.  Do you think before the game would be the best time in the Press Box?  If so, I'll make sure I get my rear-end to the stadium earlier than I usually do.  Let me know - I'm looking forward to meeting you.  Safe travels to you.

After the game would probably be better for me.

That's fine with me.  I'll come up to the Pressbox; I often do that at the end of some of the games.

From what I was told by a Millikin employee when I was in Decatur last fall for the NPU @ MU game, Lindsay Field is supposed to have its new Field Turf installed by now. Since these things are dependent upon available financial resources, the turf installation might've been pushed back. But I was told that, as of this fall, the entire CCIW will be playing on ersatz grass.

No such luck on new turf in Decatur...they need the entire campaign funded before they can spend any of the committed funds.  It is too bad as it hurts recruiting when most of the high school fields the recruits play on are better than than Millikin's.  Should be a monsoon Saturday against Greenville as Issac will be hitting hard.  Interestingly enough the game has been moved to a high school with turf due to the expected heavy rain!

Wheaton wins easily, 48-7.  Loses shutout with 36 seconds in game on a 4th and goal.  Good, solid first win.

IMO the defense is going to need to improve a bunch.  Hopefully we'll see the typical large improvement from week 1 to week 2 against Albion.  Another running threat in Clinton Orr.  Is it just me or has he been around for what seems like forever?

Yup... he and a certain TE from NCC that I won't even mention his name.  They've played for at least 10 years. ::)

Yeah, Wheaton D has room for improvement, but they didn't play bad either.  BU had 63 plays for only 178 yards, a 2.8 yard average.  -5 yards in 3rd quarter and 88 yards in 4th quarter when game was clearly out of reach.  That is still a pretty solid game.  Yes BU is not nearly as tough as the top tier CCIW teams, but for a first game I'm not overly concerned about how the defense played.  Especially with all the players they lost to graduation, including the team leaders.

It is going to take a few games for this defense to gain it's identity with so many new faces.
