Uh oh, Wheaton won by 41. BU is not going to want to play them anymore either!  :P

Congrats to Wheaton on a very impressive first game and victory.  I don't know the team as well as the CCIW fans do, but they sure looked good on the video stream.

Benedictine declined the opportunity to continue playing North Central a couple of years ago as they tired of getting pounded by the Cardinals.
Did they think the men from Wheaton would present any less of an obstacle? Not a very logical assumption.
Speaking of the WC D, it seems like they did a darn good job, just losing a shutout in the final seconds.

I will admit that the defense did seem to improve as the game progressed.  Too many open receivers though.  Benedictines QB Schultz (sp?) seemed to be forcing things to his brother, and his accuracy was off.  If receivers continue to be as open as they were at times, a better quarterback will make Wheaton pay.

Was very pleased with the running games improvement.  Even though it wasn't top level competition, Wheaton seemed to have a spark that has been missing from the running attack for the past several years.

I'm not displeased with the game at all, I just see room for improvement.  Like I said previously, I'm hoping for the big jump from game 1 to game 2.

Big shout out to the Wheaton O-Line for limiting Ben Lockton.

Glad to see Wheaton get a W.  People should look nothing more into it being a Win, and a game Wheaton was supposed to win.  Sometimes a game like this builds up chemistry and gets the 1 & 2 strings ready for tougher contests down the road.  However, most (if not all) of the CCIW games will be tougher competition than BU is right now.

For BU- Who are they going to play anymore in the CCIW?  EC, NC, have moved on and I wonder how long Wheaton is going to stay linked with the Eagles?  I know many of the local schools like the local rivalries and ($$) is less, but still getting pounded is not fun.

Bluejay4ever/L-Ghost- good points and it's ok to disagree.  Just so you know, my thoughts and observations are not out of "right field" because I am still in and around the college. (wife's a Prof on campus).   However, what I think you are seeing is Elmhurst (finally) putting in the necessary attention and devotion to athletics that some of the other schools (i.e. Augie/IWU/NC) have long been giving for years.  I realize many of these luxuries depend on philanthropy and land space (EC is landlocked), however past personnel did not put athletics at the same importance level as other (rival schools) schools did.

Naperville Sun articles on the North Central football offense, and their summer trip to Spain:

*Its interesting to note, in the article about the anticipated offensive production, that the primary runners for the Cardinals felt least year's offensive attack often became to one-dimensional in favor of the run. It might be my investigator/analyst background, but I sense the upperclassmen are rather glad to have Stanek returning at the QB position after a year's absence, as opposed to last year's freshman starter who didn't match Stanek's previous passing efficiency mark, which led the conference in 2010.

Rumor has it that Touchdown Jesus may have turned around to face north, rather than south overlooking the stadium, following the recent spate of suspensions.  ;)  :-X

Stanek threw for 1300 yards, 11 TDs, and 7 INTS. You guys are funny.
