Green Jello, you have well outlined the horrible situation of injuries for the Titans since the WC game.  Very tough to compete with so many many key injuries.  Other teams have had their share, but it seems this has been a particularly discouraging, difficult and devastating year for Titan injuries.  I think now the challenge is also to get the team's spirits back up, as vs. Augie the team was just playing with little passion, creativity, perhaps knowing now how "out-manned" they are in some areas, some respects.  Key to return may be more mental than physical for the remaining players.   Seems not enough was done vs. AC to get our fine cohort of receivers more involved in the offense and to get more going north/south, or getting our receivers out in space with the ball.  IMHO.  Except for the two unfortunate big plays given up by the D, the defense didn't play at all badly last Saturday.   Of course, too many 3rd down conversions allowed on the over the middle passes, off play action.  I, too, hope things are pulled back together and that Norm and company design a good game plan, provide a new mental frame to give EC a good game on Saturday.  Sure would be nice to finish the season on an up note, instead of a four game losing streak.

No doubt, it will be tough to stop Williams, but must contain and limit him to have a good chance vs. EC on Saturday.

People-Injuries are part of the game whether you're playing pee wees or the top levels.  Teams that win or hoist the hardware, typically have less injuries or more depth, than the others.  Norm is a veteran coach and I'm sure he will have his horses ready to fight next week.  I know from my own personal experiences, any time we had a chance to play "spoilers" that was added mo-jo for us.
RE: EC vs. WC-  My opinion is Elmhurst got lucky on that pariticular day.    I will stand by that thought.  Yes, the kids made some plays that were pivotal,  but in a 7 game series, I would say Wheaton wins 4+.

10)   Their starting punter was out with a broken leg

[/quote] I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I read number 10. I know kickers are people too and I never want to see a kid get hurt. But the old D lineman in me never liked that we would play for the entire game and it could come down to some guy that holds the sticks in the two minute drill at practice.

That being said good points on the IWU injury front. I think the hardest thing to do at this level is develop quality depth with real "cciw" type players. There are a lot of players on the bottom of rosters that would be all conference in some lessor conferences but are not even to the level of being in a rotation in the CCIW at most schools. I remember when I was coaching we had a couple players who had talent but didn't really play that often transferred and became all conference in that conference. It opened my eyes up to how really good the players are in the CCIW.

Quick question and I'm sorry if I missed the answer in a prior post.

Does anyone know if Wheaton Coach Swider was asked after the game if he was aware of/thought about the tie breaker?

Not that I'm aware of.  But in his post game comments there was a clear statement that for the last 2 NCC drives they stepped back from their aggressive defensive game plan that was working so well.  Implication is Wheaton was opting for allowing the underneath passes to burn more time and protect the 3 TD lead.

I think Coach Swider is one of the best game managers/strategist around.  He doesn't make actions on impulse and meticulously looks at the stage of the game, personnel, down & distances, etc.   I am sure those actions in the NC game were well thought out, and not "spur of the moment" type of decisions.

Hey, any word on how Coach Rucks is doing up in WI?  I am hoping for a speedy recovery and to see him on the sidelines in 2013

Is this post in reply to a previous post?

Pat Coleman

A couple of weeks ago Coach Rucks had a health incident on the sidelines and left for the hospital at halftime of the game against North Central. I don't have the details as to what is public knowledge so I don't want to speculate publicly. He is doing well, to my understanding, but he is taking leave from coaching the team the remainder of the season.

Thank you Pat. I know bits & pieces of the health incident but just wanted to see if there was any further news.  Hopefully he gets back soon.

Agreed. I was clarifying for emma17, really. I don't know much but I have reason to trust that he's well.

How do I get some positive karma points? I love everyone......unless you root for north central, augie, the big blue, Wheaton, IWU, Carthage, and north park. So unfair!  :P

Thanks Pat- I do wish him the best.

I was also curious if 79 Jaybird's complementary post of Coach Swider was in reply to my earlier question where I asked if anyone knew, if during the post-game interview, Coach Swider had actually been asked if he was aware of the tie-breaker situation.  I am not questioning Coach Swider's abilities in any way at all, I am just curious if he addressed the actual question that has been debated on this board a bit.
