No Wheaton that sucks!!

Did NOT surprise me at all.  Wheaton was too far down the table, by their own fault.  If they don't lose to Albion or Elmhurst, then it wouldn't even be an issue.  But they did.

If Wheaton holds the 21 point win against NCC, they would have had the AQ.  But they didn't.

They were not going to put 3 CCIW teams in the tournament.

Wheaton fans should look to the fact that despite the losses to Albion and Elmhurst, they still rebounded to share the CCIW championship. They won The Bell back for the first time in 4 years.  Congrats to the Thunder on a great season, especially to the seniors.

Best of luck to the Bluejays and Cardinals.  We are in the post season, so we now turn to cheering on all CCIW teams.

Mr. Ypsi

Just hours after d3football.com projected NCC to have won the bracket lottery (playing CUC), they lost the lottery big time!  IF they win AT Cal Lu, they then play AT Linfield (or Pac Lu, if they pull the upset in Oregon).  If the Cards go very far, they will have EARNED it!

And I'm quite surprised (and disappointed) that the Jays not only have to travel, but travel to a 10-0 school!

NOT fortuitous draws for the CCIW.

Langhorst_Ghost

Elmhurst will head 215 miles west to Cedar Rapids to take on 10-0 Coe in the program's first ever playoff appearance.

No love for the CCIW as NCC has a cross-country flight week one and EC gets passed over by Adrian (who lost to Carthage) apparently for a home game.  Definitely a head-scratcher.

Travel aside, both games are winable for our CCIW beloved.  Go Jays!
It's a Great Day to be a Jay!

That is all true but this is the first time I cant say Wheaton cannot play with any team right now.  This is the first time I have never seen them physically overpowered by anybody including one of the best O-lines NCC.  Its their own fault but to me this time it really hurts.

Some good news for NCC ... Last year's trip to play Redlands should have prepared them for travelling and playing on the West coast, in terms of travel time, time differences, and game prep.

And, they have to win 4 games before they'll see Mount Union.

For what it's worth,

NCC beat Redlands 42-16 on September 8.

Cal Lutheran beat Redlands 45-35 on October 6.

Ok, where the heck is Cal Lutheran?  (time to check flights...). Not sure if it's feasible.  Flights will be ridiculousLy expensive.

Weird draw for the CCIW.   Weird bracket over all too.  The NCAA is sure a tough group to figure out.

Off all the teams that could have been flown west to fill that bracket and they pick NCC?  Didn't see that one coming.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I'm thinking the were looking around for a low seed to send to SoCal, and decided to go with the cheapest flight they could find:  Chicago to LA.

Good post Thunder.  It is sad for Wheaton given the skill they have this year.  Wheaton's two losses killed them of course, but they lost both games by a combined 5 points and performed exceptionally well in the biggest game of their season-.  If the committee wanted some degree of certainty that a Pool C team would compete, they had it with Wheaton.

It's a final in Wheaton

Wheaton 55-7.

Congratulations Thunder on a CCIW championship!

Referring to the above post you made 4 posts prior to you calling out Newcardfan for congratulating his team and not congratulating the other 2 co-champs. Not trying to start anything at all, but found it a little amusing that you did exactly what you seem to complain Newcardfan omitted. No congrats in this post of yours to the co-champs. I say congrats to everyone at the top. My team was woeful this season.

Another interesting and action filled year of CCIW football. Congrats to the Tri-Champs! Good luck to those who are selected to move on and represent the conference in the playoffs. Congrats to the Seniors of all the CCIW schools. Thank you for your time and dedication to your respective football programs. It has been a pleasure to watch you all in action over the years. Best of luck to you all in your future endeavors.
I would also concur with the sentiment above.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the last four years of CCIW football watching.  It is a huge commitment for all of the student athletes and they should be very proud of their accomplishments.  Congratulations to the Co-Champs and CCIW playoff representatives.  I am sure they will do the conference proud.

While the Big Blue's final 5-5 record was frustrating, the program appears to be moving in the right direction. I believe they earned some respect with their play and they were an exciting team to watch.   Here's hoping they can continue to build the program and consistently compete at a high level.
