This year's Jays remind me a lot of Thorne's NC squads that first broke the playoff ribbon.  There is a chance Elmhurst can continue to build and create something like the NC juggernaut.  It starts Saturday with their first playoff game.

I wouldn't worry about hosting not hosting or traveling.  The fact is you are IN and in the playoffs, anything/everything can happen.  Bring your A game or go home.  Glad to see at least 2 teams get in and was really hoping to see a 3rd.

Congrats are in order to all (3) teams, their coaches/players, and schools themselves.

jaybird - I can remember how you feel now. I have been watching Cardinal football since just before the Thorne era. I can still remember the feeling when we started beating the Augies, the Wheatons and the Wesleyans after getting spanked by them. It IS a special feeling. Hoepfully, the Jays can hang in there (not hang too well though) ;D. It is not easy. Remember Carthage had that one special year. It will take a lot of work to not only maintain the level the team has acheived this year, but to improve on it. It appears that Lester and the coaching staff has it moving in the right direction. And, as other posters have noted, the school has made the commitment too. Good luck Jays! Congrats to the three CCIW champs and all the seniors.

This.  After too many 56-0 debacles Back In The DayTM, we could beat Augustana 20 times in a row and I don't think it will ever get old.

Good luck to birds of all feathers this weekend.

Has anyone on here seen Coe play or know anything about them?

The Bluejays have two chances to win their playoff game, slim and none.
Hey Coo Coo, stay off our boards and stop talking smack after you beat a whole bunch of girl scout troops and one legged midgets. You would be lucky to be .500 in the CCIW.

Aren't you the one who wondered why you have negative karma on here?

Love it!!  +K

FWIW, I think NCC wins this game fairly easily so you may want to save your bullets for next week vs Linfield

I wouldn't count on an easy game, winnable yes, but easy no......  8-)

That's true. Of course you help that cause when you compare a whole conference to girl scouts and other derogatory terms. I'm not sure too many people will be on your side after that.

I would say the line is Coe by 10 pts, but given those odds, I would say let's go (EC) and prove the odds makers wrong.  Still Elmhurst has as good a shot as anybody vs. Coe.  Now St. Thomas, Linfield, or a Purple school... that might be a different story.

St. Thomas is a Purple school.  ;D

So is Linfield  ;

So is Cal Lutheran I believe.

I am glad UW-W has helped so many "purple" schools take pride in their school color! Did anyone really care what color Mount was before U-WW arrived on the Stagg Bowl scene?  I am hoping for an all-purple Stagg again.  And here's hoping BOTH sidelines have a slightly different shade this year!

Uhhh, YEAH. The term "Purple Power" existed as a singular while UWW was still trying to get to the playoffs. Let's not go overboard.

So....Thousand Oaks settles inland over the Santa Monica Mountain range (1800 ft.?) from the Malibu.
It's a bedroom community with affordable hotels nearby.
A straight shot on the 101 North Freeway from the Burbank airport or a right angle over-the-hill through the troubled Sepulveda Pass from LAX.

There is an all new sports complex aside the C-LU campus. The football stadium is the latest (dedicated at Homecoming this year with a 6 ticks on the clock LINFIELD field goal 30-33 loss). The visitors side is nothing to whistle about with uncovered aluminum bleachers and all RR and snack facilities on the Home side.

Do NOT try to run a corner route from 30-35 yards out if heading south because there is a magnus wall about five feet from the back of the goal and your receiver will not ever play again should he hold on to the ball but hit the wall - so to speak.

To anyone in the know about NCC.
Given the Wabash and Wheaton games, I am worried about the Cal game because it seems they are a very good passing team.
I'm not sure if NCC has played other very good passing teams over the past couple of years?
Why has NCC struggled?
Any talk of changes to be made?
