From a Raiders fan......Congrats Augie on a great season! As always, your team and the fans were all class! As I watched the game, I couldn't help but think of the 11 national championships represented by these two universities.

The key to this game was to score early and Augie dug themselves a hole. The wing-t is a beautiful thing to watch but hard to rally from a large defict with it. Kmic is a great looking back. He replaced a 1st team OAC selection at tailback who was injured and only a JR. Its possible Robinson may never start again.

Best wishes to all and hope to see Augie again next year.

Happy Holidays to All!
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Just to correct JDean, this was Kmic's first start. Robinson at least started all the other games although he saw limited action last week.

Congratulations on a great game, a classy staff and a disiplined team. Hold you heads high (And develop a passing threat)
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

As any baseball fan would know, there is a term for Robinson's situation: "He's (perhaps) been Pipped!"

Congrats on a terrific season. Augustana! Your team, fans and staff are truly a class act and have much to be proud of! Thank you also for carrying out the national anthem when technical difficulties rendered the PA system larengitis(sp), it was really great to hear your fans and our side singing it rather than being drowned by the PA system! HAppy holidays!

We always talk about the strength of our CCIW Conf. Are we as strong as we think we are?
If I had lost 25 lbs. I would have been a Quarterback !

Probably NO conference is as strong as SOME posters may think we are, but don't read too much into these playoff results.  Our #2 played the OAC #2 essentially dead even, and Mount is, well, Mount.

Top to bottom, the WIAC is probably the best.  For the top half, the OAC is probably the best.  But the CCIW IS among the top 3-4 conferences year after year.

70's Nate Kmic started last week's game.  He was in on the first offensive series because I made note of it on the air.

I'd like to think we are in the top group of conferences in the nation for the size and quality of the schools that we have.

The CCIW & OAC are very similar and definitely two top conferences.  Eight vs Eight, I give the nod to the OAC.

The top four are tight with an edge to the OAC.  Mt, Cap, ONU & JC vs Augie, NC, Carthage & Wheaton.

Ott, Mtta, BW & Muskie vs Elm, IW, Millikin & NP...nod again to the OAC.

But mix in Heid & Wilmington and it dilutes the OAC a bit.

My apologies for the Augie colors screw-up.  It is just that "Vikings" would sound so more regal and dominate if they were purple.  Again, my bad.
But I still remember Howard Cosell saying...

Congratulations to Mt. Union on a big win today. I knew the Vikes were in trouble with two first quarter turnovers. Absolutely deadly against a team like MUC. Still, they were right there until they gave up the late first half score. From then it was just a matter of time. Glad to see they could run the ball effectively against a terrific run defense, but you can't miss that many scoring opportunities against an opponent like that. Augie had a great year (much better than I would have expected before the season). Congrats to the Purple Raiders. Go win title number eight!

Glad to read that Augie played with heart until the end. Good for them. A great season and a very impressive run through conference undefeated (something nobody thought would happen) and through the playoffs. We just ran up against a buzzsaw called MUC and killed ourselves with mistakes (something that is not Augie football at all). I am very happy with a 10-2 season. Should be another exciting year in the CCIW in 2006. Will get back with info on returners, although the backfield omit Guzman is gone, gonna need to rebuild that.

Thanks to those who listened today.  Broadcast cut out three times and it always takes about 3 minutes to get it up and running if that happens (didn't happen at all last week) - so thanks for sticking with it.

Note that you can go to our Audio page that will link directly to NCAASports.com for the actual broadcast...

Kmic was sick.  Definitely his coming out game.

Congrats on a great Mt win.  I hope your boy wins a ring this year!  I would have liked to make another trip out to ohio this year, hopefully next year.

patcummings- excellent job on the broadcast today. i really enjoyed listening. except for the occasional disorientation "he is pushed out at the 2....errr, that's the 42"  ;D, it was well done. I also listened to what appeared to be the capital announcers for much of the 2nd half of the wabash/cap game. they also were an excellent broadcast team. i think the OAC has us beat for broadcast teams as well as football teams this year as well.  :D
