Great seasons for Elmhurst and North Central!  Nice job!  Wheaton would have won a game or two in the D3 playoffs.  A healthy IL Wesleyan would have, too!  That was the 1st close game Elmhurst lost this year and they were in a lot of them.  The Cardinals just had too many turnovers.  You can't win a playoff game with 7 TO's.

Congrats to St. Thomas and Linfield and good luck in the future rounds!

Didn't notice this posted yet although its been on the Wheaton site since 11/19.
Garrett Meador to play in the D3 Senior Classic.  Another Reason Roberts may be coming back next season.  Add to that playing with his brother who had two touchdown passes his his first two catches one from his brother.

Definitely disappointed and disgusted watching yet another woulda, coulda, shoulda game. It's the end of the line for me as a Cardinal parent, just a couple of bowl games and then off to track season. To the Cardinal seniors-thanks for four years of enjoyment. You guys left it all on the field today. Will surely miss watching all of you next season, you've given your teammates some great leadership and left it all on the field. I know this isn't how you wanted your careers to end, but you can be proud of everything you've accomplished. Best of luck to all of you as you move on. You've given this Cardinal parent some great memories.  :)

Thanks for your contributions to this board. Your son will be remembered as one of the best LBs in the NCC program and he was a tremendous leader. NCC will reload and another leader will step into his place, but only because of the example he set. Best of luck in his track season. Good luck to your own track team this year. And do your best to keep your "lesser" half in line.  ;)
Thanks and he was a leader because of Wenger and Sulo. No doubt the examples they set on and off the field, in the wt room and just in their encouragement throughout his first season in the fold helped him to step in and continue the Cardinal LB tradition. If you come to a track meet, introduce yourself. :)

Congratulations to North Central and Elmhurst for great seasons.

I thought Elmhurst played a great game.
IMHO: I liked the play calling.  I know some thought They should have handed the ball of more to Williams but UST began by stacking the box and for the first time we saw guys tackling Williams low from underneath.  He would not have made it through the game with UST stacking the box gang tacking him  bending his body backwards.

Congrats to the "Hitters" of Glenbard West for their Class 7A State Championship, led by Bill Wienke's defense, arguably the best defense in the State!

Congrats to the Cards and the Jays! Great seasons for both teams. To all of the seniors, good luck in your future endevours. Your football careers will continue to help and benefit you for the rest of your lives. To all of the returning players, hit the weight room NOW. Let's get a CCIW team deep into the playoffs next year! We posters keep posting how good our Conference is. The CCIW is better than a lot of Conferences........but not nearly as good as some. Let's finally take the next step. Which team will do it?

Agree...maybe they will send you to the cupcake bracket (MUC Bracket) Elmhurst and NCC were great teams this year and you have several other teams that are very good in CCIW.

You sure cannot argue with the success he has had with all the defenses he has lead. It is too bad things didn't work out with him and the Cardinals.

So true, unless a team(s) can start making deeper play-off runs, they will continue to be looked at as a decent, but not top tier conference.

Watched most of the Elmhurst game on the St. Thomas video feed which was very good. Glad they had that media outlet available for those not making the trip.

Elmhurst has nothing to hang their heads about and had a tremendous season. I like Tim Lester's post game comments but what caught my attention more was Scotty Williams' response.  ~ I wouldn't trade any of my o-lineman for anything.  You don't find too many star RB's or "skilled" players that first and foremost thank their linemen, taking the spotlight off themselves.  What a class act Scotty is.

Elmhurst has their chances and played very well.  Unfortunately, playing a heavy favorite on their turf many subtle (or not so subtle) mistakes prove to be costly.

I am hoping this is not a one hit wonder for Elmhurst and they can continue to build up a program like NC has most recently.

Might be of interest to those who attended. The pictures won't be of much interest.

Another sight covering the game.

I read that yesterday. I might be of interest to those who weren't there. After watching the first few defensive series, I  thought North Central was the better team, but needed to NOT turn the ball over. They got away with some of those turn overs last week, but this week it cost them the chance to move on. They can't blame the travel, finals or the fact that it was Thanksgiving week. My son said he thought they were ready to roll and the defense did a great job right out of the gate. The offense could not hang onto the ball, bad snaps, dropped passes, etc, etc, and failed  to put points on the board early, all of which cost the Cardinals, yet again. Coming into the season, I thought the offense would be fine with all the returners and the defense would struggle with all the newbies. Instead, it was the other way around(well, except for pass defense, something I have seen them struggle with since I started watching Cardinal football). For North Central to ever get past the second round again (and after watching these past three seasons end the way they did, I have my doubts) they have to be running on all cylinders by this point in the season. They should not be making the same $#@& mistakes in week 12 as they did in weeks 1-3. IF they can finally figure it all out, they might be able to make a deep run some day. If not, they will never break into the top tier. End of rant-first period is calling ;D

Understand the frustrations 100%.  I will say this Linfield team has been a very slow starting group for whatever reason.  They typically feel out the game and get rolling in the 2nd quarter and the numbers show that.  1st qt season pts: 69-42.  2nd qt season pts: 164-40.  There have been a number of teams that have stayed close early but the 'Cats able to have great spurts to put the needed distance up on the scoreboard.

Best of luck in the upcoming seasons NCC.
