I am in football withdrawal right now :'(  Would love to see Mount play UMHB in the semi's, too bad they can't meet for the Championship.

Not a WIAC fan, but can't say I'm sad to see Linfied go down-even if it was one week too late. Way too much bragging goes on out there.

Actually, it's not about any one team, just would like to see another conference in the final. I met an oshkosh dad a few years ago at a track meet-nice guy- and his kid's a great hurdler as well. :)

For what it's worth, you all have the blueprint.  Too much passing- not good.  Too much running, not good.  Too little pass defense, not good.  I'm more than surprised it hasn't happened for the CCIW- I don't think it's a talent issue either.

You nailed it-not enough balance and the pass defense has not been there  at NC in the four yrs. my son played. the taent has always been there-I guess that's  what frustrated me the most, especially these past two seasons. It's great to win conference titles and make the play-offs, but these guys expected a whole lot more.

Saw Andy Studebaker interviewed after the KC Chief's game yesterday.  Very poised ... and obviously touched by the event's surrounding his teammate's suicide.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

I heard from a friend, who is fairly connected, that Coach Thorne SR. had some serious interest for a  job  in the FCS area. He said that there were converations, but did not know the outcome as of yet, or Coach Thorne's level of interest. Either way, quite a testament that he would be considered to make such a significant jump.

That's interesting as I talked to a fr. dad on our long trip back from Portland, that Coach Thorne told the fr. parents he might not be around for their four years. I had a feeing last year he might be ready for a move, but I thought that move woud be retirement. Would love to see Coach Ponx take over IFJT decides to leaves. But I think Jr would probably get the nod first.

When Coach Thorne became head coach at North Central, he talked about coaching for 10 years. He's past that now. I think it's unlikely that Thorne would move up to FCS, giving the health issues of his wife.

Both Jeff Thorne and Ponx have been positioning themselves for becoming head coach "someday."

Nice little post season discussion.

Agree totally with your first statement, just found it interesting that he would be considered to make such a big jump. I figured the son would be next, did not consider Ponx for that position.

Scotty Williams has "advanced" to the final 4 for Gagliardi Award.  Quite a thrill and well deserved recognition. Hope he can be selected.

If he does win, that would also be a great recognition for the Elmhurst FB program which has not had the greatest history and would be a great shot in the arm for recruiting.

Congrats to Scottie on the final 4. What a great accomplishment for all the finalist and he is so well deserving to win the award. I am sure the others are exceptional as well and deserving.

Also congrats to the many CCIW players in the All Region Selections. I count 7 Jays that were listed including two first teamers.

Again congrats to the entire conference for their individual recognition on the all-region team
