Ponx out at NCC. I hear he had etiquette issues while interviewing for another job, maybe the basketball guy from NCC will confirm, he always has good info. Promote from within, or look outside is the question now.
..or the football mom can confirm it as well, he is gone. Three years ago they promoted from within, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Here is a video celebrating Chris Bisaillon's induction into the College Football Hall of Fame this past summer.  It was made by one of his IWU teammates and friends.  I'm honored to have been asked to do the voiceover (Chris was a classmate of mine at IWU)...

Almost forgot just how good Chris was until I watched those highlights again.  Great, great player.

Great stuff he really played with an edge and enthusiasm. Some of those old uniforms were quite ugly. Nice voice over too

Thanks so much for posting that: +k.

I feel cheated that I know virtually nothing about Titan (or CCIW) athletics for the nearly three decades between my era and the d3sports.com era.  I knew Chris as a name (frequently repeated!) in the record books, but nothing more until now.

You mentioned near the beginning of the tape that Chris was the second Titan inducted.  Since Steve Laub of my era would have been too early for the divisional awards (unless they went back to before they established the awards), I'm wracking my brain to figure out who #1 would have been.

Hey Mr. Yspi:

Your thoughts on Eastern Michigan's English hiring Stan Parish (former Wabash, Kansas State, Ball State HC and assistant as well as former assistant at Michigan/Rutgers/OC at NFL Tampa Bay; recently NAIA Siena Heights University's QB coach) as his new OC? Parish didn't have to move Also, do you know where the former OC Ken Karcher is now i.e. went after he was let go by English last month?  Just curious.

I would think it is a good hire, but as I've expressed on MIAA, I have a love/hate relationship with EMU, and do not follow them particularly closely.  Since son #2 is now a student there, I will probably follow them a bit more, but quite honestly, I had not even heard the news about Stan Parish.

Don't forget, although I could afford it and chose to define it as 'retirement', in fact, they illegally fired me at age 57.  Unfortunately, several attorneys advised me that a case against them would be an uphill battle, and the union I was a major creator of did NOTHING to defend me.

I still contribute to radio station WEMU, but EMU, per se, will never get a dime from me except for Joel's tuition check! :P

Unfortunately, most teacher unions really don't do much to help employees in those type of situations.

This was an especially sharp knife in the back, as I was the ONLY person around non-stop from inception of the idea to union recognition (a LONG 8 years, as EMU pulled out every stalling tactic they could - ironic, because if they had allowed an immediate union vote, I suspect we would have lost; eventually they so pissed off everyone we won the organizing vote by an unprecedented 91-2!).  They earlier picked off one of our early leaders; we picketed, but had no union to protect her (Martha came out great - with a better job at UM at twice the pay).  After recognition, they picked off our bargaining head; we fought hard for Julie, but lost in the courts.  I was President of the organizing group at the time of recognition, and President of the union at the time of our first contract; when EMU got their revenge 2 years later, no one came seriously to my defense.  THAT really hurt, and soured me forever on both EMU and the union I helped create.

I have not spoken to anyone in the union in five years; they were once my 'friends'.

Alas, he died at the way-too-young age of 51 - 3 years before I arrived at Wesleyan. :P

I guess there might still be hope for Steve Laub, if they are going back to at least the 1930s!  Though I noted that Augie's Ken Anderson (merely an NFL MVP) was not yet in; the only player I've ever seen live in the CCIW who was even better than Steve.

... skimming the board, I misread this initially as "Your thoughts on Eastern Michigan's English department hiring Stan Parish..."

I briefly wondered if I'd accidentally surfed over to d3academics.com or some other bizarro universe. :)  Gotta get the eyes checked soon...

Does anyone else think the "bowl season" has gotten completely out of hand?

Catching up on this thread... a good indicator that there are too many bowls is that for at least the past two years, there have been concerns that they'll have more bowl slots than bowl-eligible teams... and that is with the relatively low six-win hurdle.

It won't go to a higher number because of the dollars involved, so their idea of "reform" is for the conferences to share the tie-ins to break up the monotony of always going to the whocares.com bowl, or whatever bowl your conference has a tie-in with.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20130110/college-football-bowl-system-changes/?sct=uk_t11_a7

We kvetch about the limited number of Pool C slots available but I wouldn't trade systems with D1 in a million years.

No problem - I've been there myself! ::) ;D  I should have clarified that by putting his first name "Ron" in there-sorry for the confusion.  BTW, you forgot to offer your thoughts on the question about that. :D ;) :)  What do you think.
