Guys. Two things.

First thing: Tyler Dicken re-tweeted a photo of new NCC uni's. Seems to indicate that he's back on the team. Can you confirm?

Second thing: I can't wait to watch Tyler Dicken throw the rock. When can we get all riled up about that? Now? Too soon? Let me know. I can come back in August, if you want.
first thing: he's back on the team.second thing:the quarterback job is not his alone. he will share the duties with stanek, unless one of them wins the job when camp starts. why would you get all riled up about that anyway?

Why wouldn't you?

I'm gonna have to side with BashDad on this one. I was much more impressed w/ Dicken during his stint his freshman year than I have been with Stanek during his time at NCC. Hopefully Dicken has grown in his time away from the program. Dicken's ceiling is much higher than Stanek's, IMO.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. if we all agreed on everthing, there would be no need for these boards. With Dicken still having three years left, where do you see Gaspari in all of this? Does he hang around and hope to maybe play one year or does he either switch positions or leave for greener pastures?

That's a good question as well, as I was pretty high on Gaspari coming out of Batavia (though only from press clippings and talking to people that saw him play). I haven't seen him to be able to pass judgment on that.

That being said, this is not a terrible problem for a program to have!

No, yet kids now want to play. If they see little hope, they most likely wont stick it out. Either they stay in school and get their degree or try their luck somewherelse.

From my understanding, at this time Gaspari is no longer at NC and will not be playing football this year.

AndOne

With the insightful information provided above by RFMichigan, it seems the prime competitors for the starting QB position for the Cardinals this fall appears to be reduced to two, namely Stanek and Dicken.

It seems some people are ready to anoint Dicken the starter solely by virtue of his return to the team after a year's absence. This despite Stanek's ranking 2nd in all-time yards per pass, 3rd in all time passing efficiency, and passing touchdowns, and 4th in pass completions, passing yards, yards per completion, and passing yards per game.

Questions must also be answered with regard to the reason(s) Dicken didn't play last year. Injury? Grades? Violation of team rules/suspension?
Also, what is his level of maturity, and to what degree is a "rust factor" currently present due to his being away from the game for a year?

Lets wait and see what the results of on the field competition during pre-season practice show us and especially, the coaches.  :-\   ;)

According to the interview JT gave after spring ball, he did not give any indication who would start the 2013 season as QB. He said they each had good qualities. I wouldn't be surprised to see them share the job for awhile, unless one of them emerges as top dog after camp. As far as Gaspari leaving, it dosn't surprise me at all and is one of the main reasons I stopped caring about who shows up on the yearly recruit list. I like to see who stayed and contributed for four years.

Healthy competition amongst teammates (at any position) is often welcomed by HC's.  You don't want veterans to get complacent and lazy.  And you most certainly want to see young pups giving their all to earn a spot.

I pretty sure NC doesn't have anything to worry about the Cards will be fine coming opening day.

No questions need to be answered!  Whatever the reasons for not playing, it is his personal business.  He has obviously been welcomed back and I hear is working hard.

I agree.  They'll just have problems on November 9.   ;D

As far as quarterbacks go, someone else might identify themselves in camp.  I don't remember what year it was when word was received that Kyle Kniss was transferring to NCC.  People generally thought the job was his.  However, Aaron Fanthorpe appeared and ended up having an amazing career and continued to raise the bar for the Cardinals.

Some great achievements for CCIW personnel.
A) Tim Rucks being inducted into the WI FB Coaches Assocation HOF.  Great honor.  Tim really put Carthage back on the map for the first time since the great Art Keller era.

B) Tom Kudyba invited to help coach an AFL Team down in Brazil.- Both Kudybas (Tim & Chris) were standouts and couldn't have happened to a nicer family.

C) Justin Swider- Multi Sport Standout (FB/BB) played in an all star baseball game.   Must take after his dad who is a tremendous person & athlete.
