I think you are writing off Augie too soon.  They played EC very close at Elmhurst last year and should be an improved team.  The game against Loras will tell us whether the Central game was just an off day.  I think that is the case even with our young QB.

The only way the Loras game tells us anything about Augie, is if it's close.  If that's the case, it means Augie will probably struggle once it gets into the CCIW slate.  If they win big (as they should), it means they beat a very poor team that has won a combined 3 games over the past two full seasons.  It says nothing about how they will fare in the CCIW.

Based on watching some of last weeks game vs Central online, it looks like it could be another long season in Rock Island.  Not buying the off-day comment.  There have been too many of last week's type of performance over the past few seasons to classify it as an "off-day".  For that matter, why would you expect posters not to write off Augie this season based on last week's performance?  The fact that they played EC close last season is completely irrelevant to what they will do this season.  If my memory serves me correctly, they also played Central close last season, losing 17-10 on the road to a Central team that was mediocre at best (finished 5-5).  Then Central comes into Augie against what you are suggesting should be an improved team this season and spanks you guys in the new stadium.  Doesn't sound like much an improvement to me and suggests the exact opposite. If you are a player, I would recommend that you and your teammates focus on getting better in practice and performing at a higher level in the games as opposed to worrying about what people are saying on this board.  If you do that, the posters on this board will recognize it and say as much.

Parent.  Too much work to set up multiple accounts... Nothing to hide.  Only positive thoughts about CCIW football from me.  Just more positive thoughts about Augie! ;)

Maybe it's just been a long week, but this exchange made me laugh out loud. I wanted to post a tongue in cheek, "If you are a parent, I would recommend that you focus on getting your son better as a human being and performing at a higher level in life as opposed to worrying about what people are saying on this board."  But even with a bunch of emoticons, that may have been taken poorly.  Anyway, enjoy the games everyone. Now you've got an "outsider" who will be following the Augie score tomorrow!  ;)

In that case, +K and welcome!  Apologies for the confusion :)

And for the record, you obviously weren't trying to be disingenuous.  However, occasionally on these boards someone (parent or player) will show up and post vague things about themselves/their son while trying to make it seem as though they're just an observer.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

And we have NO PROBLEM with players registering to post. It's the coaches who might have a different opinion about that. :)

We welcome all Augie posters! Most have vanished or gone into exile (sorry Augie 6) so anyone, especially someone who can provide eyewitness accounts, are welcome.

Was I dreaming or was there a Mugsy sighting a few posts back?  8-)

Sorry I have not been a contributor the last eight days. The Family and I have been battling through various sinus infections and bronchitis illnesses. Tough with a 4 and 2 year old.

Obviously a tough loss for Elmhurst last week but looking forward to the Chicago game. I would say with all the new players the growth from the first non-conference game to the last non-conference game is going to be key going into a tough beginning of the conference schedule.

Good Luck to all this weekend

In the only active game at the moment, Wheaton is eviscerating Luther late in the second quarter, 31-0.

UPDATE: Wheaton won, 38-12.

Several extraordinary statistics in association with NCC's dominating 41-14 victory over UW-Stout today. However, the most outstanding may be the passing stats compiled by last week's CCIW offensive player of the week Spencer Stanek who today hit on 24 of 26 attempts for 278 yards and 4 TDs. For good measure he ran 6 times for 50 yards (8.3 average) and another TD. On the surface, it sounds like there is a pretty good possibility of Stanek being named offensive player of the week for the 2nd week in a row.

That's a 233 passer rating.  Last week it was 166.

And, with NC, Wheaton and IWU being 7-0. the rest of the league is 4-8.  Ouch! :o

Sorry if I missed any info on this previously, but does anyone know why Joe Camiliere didn't play for EC today?

Nice call on the pick-ems AndOne! I thought Elmhurst would have bounced back from last week.

This doesn't surprise me at all. The conference championship and possible other play-off qualifier should come down to three games near the end of the season-unless someone gets tripped up before then. IWU comes off a bye week to play 3-0 Hope. That could be a good game.
