Mr. Ypsi

Exchange of FGs in the third makes it 25-17 midway thru the period.

Anyone know what the deal is at North Park?  Game time looks like it should've been at 1, but live stats either aren't working, or the game is delayed...

I thought it was me.  I assume the stats are not working.

NCC moves ahead 32-17 on a TD pass with 6:22 to go.

39-17 NCC after an interception ... All over but the crying.

Who's crying? ;D :P

This game closer than the final score will show.  Not sure why IWU didn't run the football more.  I really thought they had some success early on and got away from it.

Agreed about the game being closer than the score would indicate and 46-17 final.

Final from Bloomington.

N. Central 46
IL Wesleyan 17
-NCC had over 500 yards of total offense
-IWU had just under 300 yards of total offense

Final is 46-17.

This was much, much closer than what the score indicated.  From my perspective, the momentum turned on the holding call on IWU with 11:10 left.  The Titans trailed only 25-17, and the teams had been trading punts and turning things into a field position battle.  The penalty negated a 28-yard completion that would have given the Wezzies a first down at the Cardinal 40.  Instead, they were in 2nd-and-20 at their own 22, and a chop block on the next play pushed them back to the 11.

After they punted, the Cards took over at the IWU 49 and scored three minutes later.  That seemed to take the air out of the Titans.

The garbage time scores could really impact the final conference standings if we end up with a three-way tie.  Assuming head to head can't solve it -- and it wouldn't in a three-way tie -- then point differential in games among the tied teams is the decider.  Right now that looks like:

North Central 1-0 / +29
Illinois Wesleyan 1-1 / -18
Wheaton 0-1 / -11

Wheaton would have to beat North Central by 20 points to even the point differential.  Those late scores were huge.

I still think IWU will make the D3 playoffs and win a game or two.

Big game in Wheaton next Saturday.  I think Wheaton is the only CCIW school that John Thorne has a losing record against.

Live Stats never got working despite SID Kevin Shepke's best efforts.  Final score was 28-14 Elmhurst.

Crazy situation if Wheaton beats North Central next week.  If the selection committee takes two CCIW teams, who gets left out?  That's with the assumption that all 3 teams finish 9-1, & 6-1.

Yes, a close game in Bloomington until that series.  I give NCC a lot of credit, as their offence is very good, crisp and efficient.  Stanek plays so well within that system of short quick out patterns, short quick over the middle routes.  IWU couldn't stop that today pretty much at all.  The ball comes out quick, so virtually no pressure on Stanek today at all, and he rolled out some too.  NCC hurt themselves with penalties, as did IWU.  IWU gave them a good game 'til about 6 minutes of the third Q and then seemed to deflate, make several key mistakes.  That's when Gallik threw the two INTs, and the rest was pretty much over.  A lot closer than the final score indicates, but NCC is the better team today on the day.  IWU's corners made some key mistakes covering the bigger NCC WRs.  Stanek made the good throws when he had to.

Well, it's up to Wheaton now to see what they can do to derail an 8th straight outright CCIW ring for NCC.  I don't think they will win next week.  Let's hope our Titans re-group and win the final two games, get into the playoffs at 9-1.  A good chance I would think.
