Your predictive opinion about Wheaton this weekend is tired and old.  You have restated the same thing at least 6x.  We get it.  Wheaton has no chance and probably shouldn't even show up. Thanks for your brilliant analysis.

For the rest of us, here is a little primer:

I don't know.  I'm a little slow.  I'm not quite sure what Iwu70's view on the game is.  Maybe if he says it another couple of times it'll sink in.  Same thing was said last year.  "NCC beats Wheaton by at least 2 TD's."

Clearly since Wheaton couldn't beat IWU and IWU was handled by NCC, Wheaton has no chance.  Nevermind the it is a rivalry game unlike any other in the CCIW.

I've taken a first crack at regional rankings for North Region due out this week.  I have also included the name of other schools in the hunt.  I have done this only to get the conversation started.

1.  Mt. Union (8-0) OAC (Baldwin Wallace, John Carroll)
2.  North Central (8-0) CCIW (Wheaton, Augustana)
3.  Wabash (8-0) NCAC (Wittenberg, DePauw)
4.  John Carroll (8-0) OAC (Heidelberg, Mt. Union) - Good chance with one more win
5.  Franklin (6-2) HCAC (Bluffton, Hanover)
6 . Heidelberg (7-1) OAC (John Carroll, Baldwin Wallace) - Must win out
7.  Albion (6-2) MIAA (Adrian, Hope)
8.  Concordia, WI (6-2) NACC (Aurora, Wisconsin Lutheran)

Illinois Wesleyan (7-1) CCIW (Augustana, Elmhurst) - Good chance if wins out
Wheaton (7-1) CCIW (North Central, North Park) - Must defeat North Central
Wittenberg (7-1) NCAC (Wabash, Allegheny) - Must defeat Wabash
Hope (7-2) MIAA (Trine, Albion) - Must win out

ACTUAL
NORTH
1   Mount Union   8-0   8-0. SAME
2   North Central (Ill.)   8-0   8-0. SAME
3   Wabash   8-0   8-0. SAME
4   Wittenberg   7-0   7-1. ON MY LIST OF OTHERS.  MUST DEFEAT WABASH.
5   John Carroll   8-0   8-0. HAD AT #4.
6   Illinois Wesleyan   7-1   7-1. ON MY LIST OF OTHERS.
7   Franklin   6-1   6-2. HAD AT #5.
8   Wheaton (Ill.)   7-1   7-1. ON MY LIST OF OTHERS.
9   Heidelberg   7-1   7-1. HAD AT #6.
10   Hope   7-2   7-2. ON MY LIST OF OTHERS.

Concordia, WI has inside track in NACC.  Big games this week for North Central, Wabash, Wittenberg, John Carroll, Wheaton, and Heidelberg.  Hard to believe that any two loss teams will make it through to the bracket.

USee, I thoroughly enjoyed your motivational video.  If I were a Crusader fan, I wouldn't expect to see anywhere near the number of drops or defensive breakdowns that you saw last year.  This year's Cardinals are much more fundamentally sound.  If you think that it will be a cake walk this weekend, you might be in for a bit of a disappointment.  See you and B-W North on Saturday.

Busted Stagg-

Your analysis of last year is comical.  To attribute it to dropped balls and broken defensive assignments is an insult to the players who went out and dominated NCC in Naperville last year.  The game wasn't close and it had nothing to do with drops and mental mistakes. The team in red had their hats handed to them and got whooped in every phase.

I definitely don't expect a repeat of that this year but I would enjoy it, if it were to happen, just as much.

UdidntSee, sounds like you misunderstood my comments.  The Cardinals got their butts handed to them last year by your Crusaders.  Roberts threw the ball so many times, I thought his arm was going to fall off.  But why not when you're converting on 32-46 for 380 yards???  What I was suggesting is that you will not see SIX fumbles and four or five broken defensive plays at B-W North this weekend as the motivational video seems to indicate.  I would expect a little more 2011 and a little less 2012 on Saturday.

I agree that last year we had our butts handed to us. Wheaton beats us at the line -- both defense and offense and it was not pretty. It was not even as close as the final score. We scored late to make it more respectable and win the the tie-breaker to go to the playoffs. I hope we play the way I know we can, and hope for the best. We can win but it will be a fight to the end. Let's go Cardinals and bring home the "Bell".

We got killed last year, no doubt.  And it was tough to watch our four year winning streak over Wheaton come to an end.  It would have been nice to send a second consecutive class from Wheaton to the alumni ranks without ever having touched the Bell.  Now, at least they can treasure that single win over NC for a lifetime.

Of course our conference title streak continued on to seven, and it was fun to once again participate in the playoffs!!  In any event, I look forward to an inspired performance from both teams.  But, I am with IWU70 on the prediction.  After all isn't he is a Green Weenie, and don't we all know that he Weenies are just a little bit brighter than the rest of us?  ::)

Wheaton can't go away from the run against #456 on the Forbes College List.  IMO Wheaton will want to shorten the game a bit. I know it's fashionable right now to be spread out and throw the ball all around.  But Wheaton doesn't have Hiben or Cook anymore.

Also, based on the regional rankings, this is an all or nothing game.  Wheaton performed well under that pressure last year.

3rd down and long will be incredibly important for the Thunder defense.  It will be a long day if we let the Southerners convert on 3rd and long.

Finally, Roberts has to make good decisions.  Roberts has 5 interceptions, Stanek has 1.

Nice work in the video- sure captures the intensity.
I don't have a dog in this fight so I'm not picking sides here. Not that any Cardinal fans are saying otherwise, there were some good hits causing those fumbles.

It seems Saturday has the makings for a fantastic and classic CCIW showdown. Best of luck and health to both teams.

Completely agree on the two bolded comments above, Mugsy!   :P ;D  This will be a great game.  It always is.  No other game right now matters for the Cards except this one and it will be a tough one.  Wheaton will be ready to play and I have said it before that they are as well coached as anyone in the country.   This is the biggest and best rivalry game in the CCIW!  Time for the Bell to come home!

Can tell I haven't had much time to spend on boards.  Walked right into that one.  Did I queue that up enough for you CA?
