As for giving back as an alumni:

I didn't play football, but I was on the swim team, so my donations so far have been to the swim team to help assist for new uniforms. Unlike the other sports, we had to pay for our own uniforms! 

on a lighter note......this post is hilarious in my view. the swim team uniforms? the girls by virtue of slightly more material may be a little more expensive but come on, how much $$ are we talking about big spender?

Then one day when I win the lottery, I'll give back to the football team so we can have a gold field with blue stripes, and then maybe we can have some alternative uniforms like several of the other schools have.  I think it would be great to see a uniform consisting of both yellow pants and yellow jerseys.

No offense Augiedogie, but I hope you never win the lottery. Gold pants and jerseys on a gold field with blue stripes? It makes my eyes hurt just thinking about it.

I don't think the administation would ever go for a gold field,   but the all yellow uniforms would loook neat in my opinion. Has Augie ever though of going to a 3rd uniform?

Usee:

Swimsuits for regular competition run anywhere from 30-50 dollars and most people would purchase 1 or 2, and then people would buy special suits for conference/nationals and those ran between 100-150 and sometimes more. Also, atleast at Augie our swim team did not receive a lot of money from the school. We had to hold our own fund rasiers in order to travel to away meets.

If memory serves me, Augie actually did wear gold jerseys in a 22-21 playoff win over Adrian in 1983. I know that's 22 years ago, but they were using the same basic color scheme that they use today, so it was surprising. I can't exactly remember the circumstances that led to the gold jerseys, but I think it may have had something to do with damage to, or theft of, their regular blue jerseys. I think Augie6 was a freshman on that team. Maybe he can confirm whether my memory of this is correct.

But think about it, it would make the opponent's eye's hurt also. Not only would they have to follow the ball in the Wing-T but they would also have to figure out where that ball is in a sea of gold that we called a field. I know that it isn't the same as the blue field at Boise State but it is a cool idea in thought, but not the greatest idea in practice.

I LOVE that blue field - but only because it is unique!  I'd HATE if they were all like that!

But a gold field - that just sounds weird!
