So the NCC AD scheduled nonconference games against lower tier WIAC schools, thus the Cardinals travel in the playoffs?

They weren't lower tier when they scheduled them. In fact, NCC has played and won vs 4 of the top 6 WIAC schools. Stout was 8-2 in 2009 and 6-4 in 2010. UWSP went 9-2, 7-3,7-3 from 2008-2010. LaCrosse hasn't been better than .500 since 2006 though.

And with all the talk about scheduled opponents, keep in mind that many games are scheduled on a home and home basis so its fairly common to face a non conference opponent two years in a row. That can either be helpful or devastating to a team's SOS.

While MIAC schools played and barely defeated the bottom two teams in the WIAC and the sixth place team in the IIAC and are now praised for their strength of schedule!!!

At this point I feel like I am beating a dead horse (Go Thunder, that is your cue for your man beating a dead horse).  Bethel and North Central will meet on the frozen tundra on Saturday and the best team will (hopefully) win and all of this SOS conversation will die ... Until next week.

CCIW/MIAA scheduling agreement...

Ah you are quick on the draw. Beat me to it. When I first saw the announcement I was thinking MIAC and not MIAA.

To be honest, I think the MIAC would be a better match.  Much more similar conference based on the 2013 result of the CCIW champ and 3rd place Wheaton vs. the MIAA champ.

Not much upside to a CCIW/MIAC crossover series, even if it would be a fun Saturday afternoon around the ol' laptop screen.  Both of those leagues already have favored nations status.  The MIAC is already deep enough to be beating itself out of a viable second tournament team, the CCIW would probably wind up doing the same by tacking on a game against St. Thomas or C-M or St. Johns to the Wheaton or IWU schedule.

Maybe it's just me, but it struck me funny that North Central was "randomly" paired up with one non-MIAA team.  Be interesting to see if North Central "randomly" gets a return home game from the Norbs in 2015.

Great point about the second playoff team.  And the exact same thought crossed my mind about St. Norbert.

Mike Conway indicated to me that a CCIW/IIAC scheduling agreement has also been bandied about. Not sure if that's going to come to fruition, though.
