CCIW/MIAA scheduling agreement...

http://www.cciw.org/news/2013/12/4/fb_1204132555.aspx

Mike Conway indicated to me that a CCIW/IIAC scheduling agreement has also been bandied about. Not sure if that's going to come to fruition, though.
While I assume many of the CCIW fans would probably disagree, I think that would be a very competitive series & would help the IIAC NC scheduling & would be good for the fans!

I don't disagree at all.  I think that it would really help the entire CCIW with SOS and finding quality games.  As for North Central, I think that it would be great, especially if we are getting a top 1-4 team every year.

And, I love the St. Norbert game as part of the MIAA agreement.  Good team, 7+wins every year.  Usually makes the playoffs.  Should be a fun game.

Where does NC practice if field is covered? When do they take it off, Saturday morning?

NCCAlum48

Based on social media, the team did a walk thru this morning at University of Minnesota's indoor facilities.

Scrubby

Interesting, would figure they'd want to test out field and test proper shoes??

I'm sure they'll be able to test/change shoes tomorrow.

Scrubby

Yeah, I guess so!  Hope the BU bookstore has the proper ones if they don't.

Some interesting quotes from NCC Head Coach John Thorne:

"This Bethel team is certainly the best team we have played this year and maybe the best team we have played in our 12 years here"

"They (Bethel) are very similar to Wheaton particularly on defense. The size of their players has similarities, the speed of their players has similarties and the structure of their defense has similarities to Wheaton"

on Erik Peterson playing:
"We totally expect (Peterson) to be the starter on Saturday. If the other quarterback is the guy, he knows this offense extremely well and we expect them to be ready"

"They have an All American LB who is just like Matt Wenger except he is taller and weighs 240 lbs. That's not a good thing for us to have to deal with"

"Bethel has done a wonderful job to help create a good environment for both teams to deal with the cold. They will have heating units on both sidelines and they even borrowed heated benches for both sides from the University of Minnesota."

This is where coachspeak just bugs me.  I get that the biggest game is always this week's game and the best opponent is always this week's opponent because the whole idea is that there aren't any other teams in the universe except your team and the team you're playing next.  That's just how coaches operate.  But come on.  Bethel is really good.  They are not the best team North Central has ever played in the last 12 years.  They are not 2010 Whitewater.  When I get more time I'll scrub the last 12 years to find more examples....but man.  I know John Thorne's memory isn't that short.

Glad you said this...because I was going to say pretty much the same exact thing. But I decided against it because I didn't want to get prortrayed as an arrogant Whitewater fan, who thinks his team always has to be thought of as the best.

So I just let it go.

I'm sure they'll be able to test/change shoes tomorrow.

My understanding was that they were going to spend some time on the Bethel field today, after the walkthrough at the U of M.  Doesn't the NCAA require that the visiting team have access to the field on the day prior to the game?

Their busses rolled onto campus around noon today.  The looks on their faces once they saw the frozen tundra that is Royal Stadium were of both excited anticipation for tomorrow and apparent nervousness for the cold.  Same thing coming from the BU players.

I'll let you know after tomorrow's game as I've seen almost all of 'em in the past 12 years.  The 2010 UWW and the 2006 Capital teams are right at the top of my list.  Top playoff competitors on the opposite sideline who stick out over the past 12 years, in no particular order, are: 1) Chad Rupp - Franklin, 2) Rocky Pentello - Capital, 3) Tyler Burke - Wabash (2nd Half); and 4) that running back from UWW -- what was his name again? -- oh yeah, Levell Coppage.  I would be interested in hearing from other long-time NCC fans on this.
