Congratulations go out to the Fiedorowicz family.  Younger brother CJ drafted first in Round 3 and #65 overall by the Houston Texans.

Congrats indeed!  Anyone know of any D3 draftees this weekend?  Or perhaps post-draft free agent signings?

Despite graduating 21 seniors, including 14 starters plus their punter/kickoff specialist, FG kicker, and long snapper, the NCC ranks will evidently continue to be well stocked next season.
While no formal list has yet been released, North Central head Coach John Thorne, recently advised "we just went over the 50 mark for our next recruiting class." Also, "It's a recruiting class that has the best balance that we have ever had in all 12 years that we've been here."

Hopefully names/positions will come into focus in the near future.

AndOne- If this pans out and comes to fruition that is wonderful news for NC.  With any school, until they don the jersey on gameday, I never really put much time into recruits and potential.  But,  good to see that more folks are looking at competing at D-III.

Brief list here:

Supposedly Will Ferrell of Hampden-Sydney was also invited to a camp (Vikings?) but that is not confirmed on there.

Interesting to see that many of the kids who are getting a flyer were not exactly "superstars" (not a knock on them so much as surprise that the top players from UWW, Mount, UMHB have not been picked up as yet).  Presumably some of them showed well at a regional combine or are merely interesting bodies/projects; for example, the TE from Westminster did not play HS football and thus may be viewed as an interesting developmental guy with his big body.  Still, given that Mount and UMHB both have active contributors on NFL rosters, I am surprised that neither has had at least one guy picked up yet.

Wheaton recruits.  Article hints that some more might be added, but just haven't sent in their deposit.

Although I know nothing about ability levels, seems like depth on the line on both sides of the ball was addressed.  I seem to recall Coach Swider being disappointed about the number of recruits for those positions recently.

Lots and lots of bodies have marched through the Carlson Tower basement and into the offices of the football staff since the season ended -- easily more prospects than I can ever remember NPU bringing onto campus. But as to how many have actually sent in their deposits for next fall, the answer is, "Not all that many ... yet." This is still on the early side for recruiting decisions, both in terms of verbal commitments and actual tuition deposits.

I think that there will be a much better read on North Park's recruiting a month from now.

Any sense of where NPU recruiting stands now?

I haven't talked to Mike Conway in a few weeks, other than a brief conversation we had about next season's broadcasts. Checking in with him about NPU's football recruiting is on my to-do list for next week.

39 players is a very strong class for Wheaton. Biggest class ever and the talent on the line is a huge boost for them. In my opinion, the place Wheaton gets beat in big games is up front, not having dominant players in the trenches and having depth. They always have 1-2 very good lineman on each side of the ball.  But to win the CCIW and go deep, you need twice that. I think this class is a possible game changer for the Thunder, providing depth and talent they haven't had in the past. We will see.

Also interested to see how the QB battle shakes out for Wheaton. Johnny Peltz turned down a couple scholarships to come the Wheaton but he played baseball all spring so that has to affect his ability to compete for a starting role. Reece Butler is a senior but Andrew Bowers was a freshman last year and will compete for the job.

2014 NCC recruit list....

Making my way through the list. The thing that stands out is lots of linemen.
I just got done spending about five hours making my way thru the list.  It looks very solid.  Lots of size and speed on both sides of the ball, quite a few OL/DLs, LBs, DBs, WRs, and K/Ps.  At least five or six of these kids that will see significant time this fall... I'll let you all do your own reviews and make your own assessments to see if you come to the same conclusion.  Like many of the long time posters, I do subscribe to the "I'll wait until I see them on the field" before I form my final opinion though.  The one thing I do know is that the North Central College 2014 football season has now officially started!!!!

The Millikin website shows progress on the new turf at Lindsay Field.  Very good news for the Big Blue.  I remember the old turf.  Yikes!  Difficult to play on no doubt.
