The Millikin website shows progress on the new turf at Lindsay Field.  Very good news for the Big Blue.  I remember the old turf.  Yikes!  Difficult to play on no doubt.

You and others here may have previously discussed this, and if so, my apologies. Nonetheless, my question is are they going with a blue color turf field or the regular green turf?  I checked the website, however, I couldn't find any mention regarding that aspect. It doesn't really matter, yet I was just curious. ;)

Okay, it is a World Cup summer.

Will the CCIW Chat board host the World Cup posts?

If so,  here is my first comment.

International soccer/FIFA is the most corrupt sport and sporting body in the world. The Qatar payoffs have exposed them once again as selling to the highest bidder. If they don't strip Qatar of its bid, shame on all of them.

CCIW Chat is the bball board - it tends to be friendlier to off-topic posts than the fball board.  (The fball board has become much more civilized, but I avoided it for years as being downright nasty.)

But I assume you are aware that there is a thread on the soccer boards for the World Cup?  Alas, I think the U.S. involvement in the WC will be brief.

AndOne

In the absence both of sports such as rowing, ice hockey, field hockey, squash, and skiing, and single school multiple championships in the "major" sports, no CCIW teams are going to seriously challenge for a top finish in the annual Learfield Directors' Cup standings.
However, among CCIW teams, North Central finished highest in the final 2013-2014 Cup standings, coming in 21st from among over 400 NCAA Division III schools.
Other conference teams finishing in the top 50 included IWU in 26th, Carthage tied for 47th, and Wheaton in 49th.

Mike Heffernan and Glen Brittich promoted to new coaching roles within Elmhurst staff. Don't know Glen as well as I do Mike, but Heff is a great person and was a great leader as a player for the Jays.

Glen recruited my son to Carthage and I was always impressed with him as a person and coach.  I'm glad to see him doing well at Elmhurst.

For those of you that "tweet" - ECFootball's Twitter Page has been posting some pretty sweet recruit welcomes over the past month...

You can find the page here (just scroll down a bit): https://twitter.com/ECFootball

And here is the official commit list - Coach Planz announces the 2014 recruiting class:

Compared to EC's recent seasons boasting substantial regional diversity, this incoming group of Jays is decidedly much more locally focused, with just a handful of recruits hailing from outside the Land of Lincoln.

Glad to see Elmhurst is focusing more on targeting IHSA local boys.   Also props to schools like EC/NC/etc.  showing that their recent success is holding luster and having more kids choose to go local, as opposed to the historical perimeter schools and/or out of state.  Definitely some good football and more success to come in DuPage County.

Anyone know anything about Wheaton WR Mark Hiben's status? I know he was out last year and I was wondering if he was returning to the Thunder program for the upcoming season. If anyone could shed some light on the situation I would greatly appreciate it, the kid is a tremendous talent and exciting to watch.

FYI:
Livestream is now on Roku.  I checked on my Roku and was able to perform a search and find Elmhurst archived sports.  Steaming to your tv seems to be the next advance in college and HS. sports.  Watched a bit of Elmhurst vs NCC football game and the video was pretty good.
For those not familiar with the basic setup I will go through the steps I went through.  You will need high speed internet.
1. I bought a Roku 3 because it has faster speeds than previous versions and the comments on Amazon consistently stated how much better 3 was.
2.  With Roku3 I also needed a wireless router. Make sure it is fast enough for high def streaming.  I used a middle speed Belkin N600 which works great.  You basically plug it in and connect your high speed internet (I have Comcast) and follow the directions.
I plugged in my Roku went to the Roku page to register and it automatically finds all wireless router signals and you choose and it is connected.
3. Then you select your channels and Livestream is free.  Youtube is also free so you can watch your teams clips on youtube.

My favorite channel is Acorn tv which has BBC mysteries.
Please comment on what you think of watching d3 on streaming TV and please tell us other teams that use Livestream previously or are planning to this year.  Or any other way d3 sports would be available on streaming tv.

That's pretty cool.  I've never beamed any of the games I've streamed onto my TV, but I know of plenty of Wabash fans that stream games regularly that do.  The Roku stick probably makes it that much simpler.  I'd be almost certain that the Chromecast stick doesn't have Livestream as a native app, but you can basically mirror whatever is on your computer/tablet to your TV with that hardware (although I have read/heard that the mirroring isn't great...seriously laggy).

Wabash games are streamed through Livestream as well.  Week 1 vs. Hampden-Sydney wouldn't be a bad game to check out.
