Heading for Tucci Stadium and Wilder Field shortly.  Should be very interesting to see how this new Titan squad and freshman QB handle a very good Franklin team.  IWU has a pretty tough September schedule this year, tougher than usual.  A good test.  Let's hope they pass it with flying colors.

A report follows, with my rank and uninformed impressions.  (At least I'm in the right chat room, right?).  Somehow I escaped that Turkish jail, just in time for the football season.

Good luck to all CCIW teams today.

Here are the IWU starters I pieced together from various articles...missing 1 on offense and 2 on defense.

Offense

OL Niall Mulcahy*, 6-0/285 Sr (Fenwick H.S.)
OL Garrett Laflamme, 6-3/280 Sr (Deerfield H.S.)
OL Lucas Diller, 6-6/285 Jr (Prairie Central H.S.)
OL Frank Toland, 6-4/285 Jr (Lincoln-Way East H.S.)
OL Tom Pearson, 6-4/295 Jr (Cary-Grove H.S.)
TE Brady Hails, 6-2/230 Sr (Collinsville H.S.)

1st trip to North Park Vikings stadium tonight...what a turnaround...as always...it's always about the coaching...always

I think it's actually always about the recruiting.

Getting off the bus with the best players most often results in your team posting a "W"
However, quality coaching cannot be discounted as top recruits don't automatically turn into top players on their own.
Additionally, top "recruits" sometimes recruit themselves with little coach involvement on the front end.
But, yes, good recruiting is usually where the winning process begins.

Why do so many people who should know better separate coaching from recruiting? Newsflash, folks: It's the coaches who do the recruiting. Mark's right that sometimes players direct themselves to a particular school without any prompting from that school's coaching staff, but in terms of top players those kinds of individuals are far and few between in most sports. The overwhelming majority of good players in any program are brought in by the coaches, if not all of them. Recruiting is not something that exists apart from coaching at the college level. It is the most important aspect of college coaching itself. Period.

DadofBashWarrior is 100% correct. It is always about the coaching, because recruiting is part of coaching.

North Park's game this evening at 6 pm against Concordia (WI) will carry both live audio and video, as will all Vikings home games. Road games will be audio only. As usual, I'll be on the call. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this NPU team has to offer this season.

After a poor first series by the defense and, no doubt, some first game nerves by the Freshman QB, both Warner and the defense have settled in and playing better.  14-7 Titans early in the 2nd.  Are DIII NCAA games now copyrighted?  I can't get the radio feed from WJBC to play.

I can't get either that game or the Elmhurst @ Loras game to load on my computer. I do have the Coe @ Wheaton and Millikin @ Greenville games, and I'm updating those scores on the CCIW in-game updates page.

I had WJBC on, and it was playing, but as soon as the game started, the feed went silent.  Like it's blacked out or something.

I'm tracking that game and the Elmhurst game via the d3football.com scoreboard.

Video feed is working for me, but there were some technical difficulties at the start.  Still can't get the radio feed though.

Quote from: USee on September 06, 2014, 09:16:01 AMI think it could be a rough day for the CCIW today.  Only Elmhurst over Loras is a lock in my view.

Two other CCIW teams, Wheaton and Millikin, are blowing out their opponents at halftime by 31 and 35 points, respectively. Looks like the day might not be as rough overall as you'd anticipated -- although I think that the two late games (Augie @ MSJ and CUW @ NPU) could definitely be difficult.

Looks like Stretch had some issues today -- I couldn't watch video from other games, either.

Mr. Ypsi

It took me all the way 'til halftime, but I finally have the IWU video feed.  They are up at the half, 35-21.  Looks like they found themselves a CCIW-quality quarterback!  He has a rushing and two passing TDs.

While I certainly appreciate modern technology that allows me the opportunity to watch a DIII game from 1000 miles away, my goodness Stretch has been gawd awful today.  42-28 Titans late in the 3rd.

Titans win a slugfest over Franklin, 42-35.  Thanks to Stretch, I can't give many details; livestats died in the 3rd, and I saw a grand total of zero of the 11 touchdowns. :(  But we certainly found us a quality qb; He ran for at least one TD, and passed for at least 2.  His favorite target was Artie Chechen, who already had 150 receiving yards when livestats quit.
