P.S. I thought Emma was a woman until reading this. I can't be the only one. Can I?

That's awesome! I'm sure you aren't the only one.

Oh man, this has the chance to get real ugly for me.
So let me try a distraction.

I get the feeling this team may be Wheaton's strongest in terms of line play and defense- if this is the case I imagine we've got quite the slugfest coming up Saturday.

I admit, it was earlier this season that I realized I had been wrong about Emma's gender.  Not sure my head exploded with purple smoke like the Jet.com ads, but I was surprised.

I'm excited about this game.  It's our first crack at Whitewater since they became a purple power.  What they try to do on offense, Pound the Rock, is one of Wheaton's strengths on defense.  The linebackers are fast and versatile, and don't miss tackles, especially on the edge, very often.

Interestingly enough, both teams have slogans.  Pound the Rock is self-explanatory.  Wheaton's slogan is Let's Roll.  Kind of a double meaning, first is the concept of rolling thunder.  Second, Todd Beamer from United Flight 93 on 9/11 is a Wheaton Graduate and member of the baseball team, said these words as the members of that flight put their plan to attack their hijackers into action.  Here's a video of Coach Swider explaining this a couple of years ago to players that were most likely between 6 & 9 years old on 9/11/01. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8tT4fAY5uU

Emma,

To answer your question, this is the best team Wheaton has fielded in my 30+ years of watching them and it is driven by their line play and their defense. Now that time includes an 0-6 record to Mt Union where the closest result was 14 pts so take that for what it's worth.

I have seen UWW enough to know what they bring to the table. Their line play on both sides is both fast and physical. their power run game and zone blocking on offense are as good as you will find in D3. The one thing Wheaton has not seen much of is a big, physical run game. North Central is a running team and their OL is similar to UWW but their backfield is fast more than physical. Wheaton hasn't seen anyone with a fast, physical offensive line and a guy like Ratliff running behind it. On defense, UWW is obviously a huge challenge for Wheaton's OL and WR's .

Take what? A bunch of arrogant fans sitting behind a bunch of rings? They are the champs. No one else has a chance. So be it.  The Thunder are the next team up for the slaughter.

That's about all the analysis you get from that group.

That wasn't very nice.

Seriously, is there a tailgate area?

Thanks for the synopsis. I'm hoping UWW's game against the physical UWO defense last month prepared them for this trip to Wheaton.

Hopefully Peltz is can get healthy for the game, it should be a good one.

USee

I don't know the status of Johnny Peltz, I do hope he is ok to play. But I know that Andrew Bowers was an all conference QB for Wheaton this year and has capably won every game he has started (including North Central and IWU) so the QB position won't be the issue this weekend.

Is Dansdill a LB that runs sideline to sideline making plays like Wenger?
I'm guessing Wheaton does some read option.  UWW struggled defending that last year.

+k for the response. All in all, as far as the UWW (and the same to be said for Mount) posters go, I think they're all pretty knowledgeable and the "arrogance" with respect to their teams is warranted. The fans of those two teams are the only ones who can really get that pass, though.

Yes, he runs sideline to sideline.  I would say his speed combined with his instincts makes him such a special player.  Though, physically, he is not intimidating.  It will be interesting to see how he handles the bruisers UWW has up front.

Way to go SAGER:)

Way to go SAGER!

USee, C'mon man. This is a message board in which we talk about football teams. You know darn well (I'm guessing) that arrogance is about an exaggerated sense of one's OWN worth or importance. We just brag on the football team we support, not ourselves.  I don't know any UW-W fans at all that think they are personally worth more because we happen to support a successful football team.

I admit that Bleedpurple can be pretty annoying, but that's how I created him to be. All UW-W all the time. Usually, I reserve harsh BP comments for counterpunching when someone attacks something UW-W.

Here's a rundown of the UW-W characters (from my perspective):

BP- makes brash predictions about UW-W, most of which have come true. And counter-punches UW-W bashers. Probably unnecessarily hard. He's not one to take too seriously because his tongue likes to find it's way into his cheek. Especially in the WAY he posts.
02Warhawk- A recovering pessimist/realist that knows a lot about football, often fears the worst might happen to UW-W. He will bash Mout Union out of nowhere on occasion. For that, I am proud of him.  ;)
Emma17- Former UW-W player who is a frustrated offensive coordinator in love with the slant pass.  ;)  He has strong opinions regarding pool C. He also understands the nuances of written communication and calls people out when they misquote him or use straw man arguments.  Another worrier ala 02. He has been a mystifying supporter of both NCC and UW-O over the last several  years. Not above UW-W, but supportive nonetheless.
BadgerWarhawk Posts mostly informational things. He is among our most respectful posters and probably the most universally well liked by those who follow other programs.
413 Long-time poster who just made her re-entry. Mother of legendary UW-W linebacker. Don't mess with 413!  :)
Bobo- Just a kind and gentle soul who cares a lot what people think of him.  ;D

A few others, but the above probably have contributed 98% of the WIAC board posts over the past year. My descriptions above are about posting habits, not about who they are as human beings. Of course there is overlap, people are posting their opinions. But don't read too much into it as to who we really are as people. In real life, I believe in Jesus and everything.

As an outsider I can vouch for the UWW posters as pretty nice people, having met most of them at the stagg bowl over the years.  They are fun to have give and take with, but do know what they are talking about, most of the time.  If miracles happen, maybe I will get to have that give and take again with them in 2 weeks.  UWW is much more likely to be playing than Wesley is.  I am looking forward to this games result though.  It looks like it could be a good one.

CardinalAlum

I go away from the board for a couple of days and it turns purple!!  I seriously had to check to make sure I didn't click on the WIAC page!  ;D
