Extra Pts/FG: Daniel Gray has been out so the Freshman Bowes has been inconsistent and occasionally unreliable.

In week 1 vs Benedictine, kickoff specialist Stefan Knoerr missed the first 2 PAT's of the season. Freshman K Bowes took over and has since gone 2-2 (vs Benedictine), 5-6 (vs KZoo), 1-2 (vs Carthage), 1-1 (vs Elmhurst), 4-4 (vs IWU), and 5-5 (vs Millikin) on PAT's. He's 18-20 overall and hasn't missed since week 3. Overall, the whole PAT process just looks better to me... Bowes is also 3-6 on FG.

There's definitely room for improvement, but I think Bowes has been pretty solid and has found his groove.

The kid is going to be good but he is a freshman and Daniel Gray is a senior captain. Big difference and a reason why they aren't trying for FG's unless they are close.

That's a good chart, thanks USee and wally!

Wheaton has to clean up the penalties.  You can't give your opponent any free yards.  The penalties and the field goal issues have to be playing into Wheaton's horrible Red Zone offense statistics.  That's a little worrisome considering SoDup's defense on 3rd down and in the red zone and their strong turnover margin.

Shaping up to be another good one.  It's ok by me if Wheaton blows them out though.

Full disclosure- I lifted the image insert presentation for tables from AO over in the MIAC pick 'em.  Want to make sure we get proper attribution here.

Back to your regularly scheduled rivalry sniping.   :)

You apparently have a sturdier bladder than I do. I don't encourage people to stop by the press box and greet me during halftime, because whatever part of those twenty minutes that I don't use to pass along first-half stats and other CCIW scores is spent first on a bathroom break and then on refilling my water bottle. ;)

Final in Kenosha: Waukesha (unless they snuck into the Carthage stadium while they were busy in Elmhurst! ;D)

IWU 62
Carroll 10

Final in Elmhurst

Carthage 37

Augie @Millikin is tonight alongside the Bell game

I know it was only against the first-year ex-MWC team, but I'm still very impressed that IWU could lay 62 on ANYONE! ;D  On the CCIW Pick-ems, one question was "over/under 30.5 points" for IWU scoring.  Only one picker went with under - I'm curious what the number would have needed to be to get diversity of picks?  I'd have still definitely gone over at 40.5, but 50.5 would have given me pause (though my Green heart probably would have still gone over), and there's no way I would have gone over at 60.5! :o

Mr. Ypsi

For IWU, Brandon Bauer, 16-19, 210 yards and 4 TDs, plus 29 yards rushing and another TD.  Maurice Shoemaker-Gilmore rushed for 146 yards and 2 TDs, plus 2 catches for 11 yards and another TD.  Those sound like viable candidate numbers for OPOW, but I suspect that both offensive and defensive awards will go to whoever the heroes are in the Bell Game/Title Game tonight.

Mr. Ypsi

OMG - Millikin is dominating Augie in every phase of the game.  27-7 at the half.  Have things in Rock Island gone THAT far off the rails? :o  Or has the Big Blue decided they were a doormat for long enough?

wesleydad

not much of a game so far. NCC is controlliing the game.  Wheaton with turnovers and giving up a punt return right before the half puts them in a deep whole, and I don't see enough from the offense to climb out of it.  NCC looks pretty good to me.
