This situation with the Carthage long snapper is incredible.

Pretty desperate when Carthage goes for it on 4th an 1 from their own 14 yard line.

Another topsy-turvy contest results in Carroll squeezing out a 28-25 win over Augustana, featuring a 75-yard TD drive by Carroll in the final few minutes that was actually a 100-yard drive, as the Pios had to overcome a holding call and a 15-yard sideline interference call as well.

Augie's starting QB Zach Fuller was carted off the field. His backup, Luke Bleyer, actually outperformed him.

I am a Wheaton guy (as a fan and in principle--so I don't typically wager) but I'll take Carthage and 14 points for as much as anyone wants. Any takers?

I will take that bet as well.  Lunch before or after the battle for the Bell.   Wheaton front 7 is as good as I've seen.   DB problems or not, you still have to have time to throw it.  Wheaton easily covers 14.

Now what do I have a taste for....

What are you talking about? Carthage scored exactly 14 pts, just as I predicted.

And then there's this;  ;)

You guys are nuts.  Carthage hasn't given up a score this season. There might not be 14 total pts scored in this game.

Spencer Peterson is taking the QB job.

Not that many people can be too surprised by this can they?

Don't know what to say about the Augie program.  At this point, I am predicting a 2-8 season, but the way it's going in Rock Island, I wouldn't be shocked if they don't win a game.  Clearly, whatever plan Coach Bell and his staff had is not working, as this is a program that is not getting better and seems to be in complete free fall at this point in time.  Hard to believe that this will be the 7th season in a row without a winning season at Augie.  Not that I've posted a lot, but I don't plan on posting anymore this season, as there just isn't much to say about Augie and, frankly, I don't plan on wasting any more time following another disappointing season.  It just sickens me to see the depths that this program has fallen to.  Can't wait for basketball season!!!  At least that is a program I can get excited about at my alma mater.

Don't think this is going to happen, although Spencer clearly has his place in the Thunder offense. Coach Swider said on the post game that his lack of accuracy in the passing game keeps him from competing. He is actually Wheaton's 3rd QB but they play him in this package. More than likely that package will be expanded.

Wheaton played two QBs and he was one of them.  He is not their third QB even if that's what the coaches say.

Right now it reminds of the Tebow/Leak combo Florida used before Tebow got the full playbook.   Problem is Wheaton doesn't seem to have a Chris Leak.  They need to expand Peterson's practice reps/playbook.   Even if he is 60% as accurate as McWilliams, the treat of him running is going to open up a different set of routes.
